Worlds slowest reno
« on: January 16, 2021, 10:39:02 AM »
A Miners hut on our block which was a rental.
So far have kicked in the ceilings, stripped the house of all plaster, wiring and plumbing [which has been replaced]
Removed all floors, replaced the stumps, bearers, joists then a new yellow tongue floor.
Repaired all windows, made one into a bay window.
Now slowly replacing all weatherboards and front verandah.
This will ultimately be spare bedrooms, apart from the whisky room.
After we finish this have a 180m2 extension, currently with the architect.
I'll update this thread as we move along different stages.

Awesome work, Ron! :cup:

So they had previously sheeted over the brickwork ???

The walls had several thicknesses of render, last reno done ? they battoned some walls and plasterboard, other walls plasterboard straight onto the render. They also installed a false ceiling at 2.4m, the original ceiling at 2.7m we kicked in and renewed.

Her indoors did the whole room.
She used a 4 inch bolster and a hammer, took her 6 weeks.
Then wire brush.
Then pressure washed, applied hydrocloric acid, pressure wasshed again - repeat 4 times.

Reno has finished on the cottage.
Re - Stumped, wired, plumbed.
New plaster, roof, skirts arcs etc.
Basically replaced everything except stud and brick walls, where were all square and in good nick.
180sm extension starts December.

Stage Two has begun.

The plumber roughed in, and blindings were poured, and finally, walls and trussed delivered.
