Oh and with a range of 400-600klms, that would be a pain in the arse for the type of work that I do and most others that do Road Train and B-double out into and from the sticks.  ;)

Yeah. It's like when they brought the new V8 Scania about 10+yrs ago. They had one 600ltr tank on them and thought that all the Road Train blokes would jump at them. Now lets see........grossing 84-110t = 1.1-1.3ltrs per 100klms, that will get us, hmmmmmmm maybe 700klms.

Make that.......... 1.1-1.3klms per litre and I have seen on my truck, it drop to 500mtrs per litre when hauling 110t up hills.  :o

It would probably be feasible as the article says, with direct hub runs like Sydney to Brisbane or Melbourne etc.  swapping loads out at hubs. With a battery change out location every 4-5 hours and designated break stops at the same locations.
Obviously part of the rental agreement would include a battery change out crew.
Assuming that the battery place didn’t have a charging fault and burn down
Breaking the nations supply chain.
For things like cattle trucks heading to and from the west to numerous locations, ice vehicles would still be required.

Nu covid variant taking hold in Sth African countries.

‘The United Kingdom has temporarily banned incoming flights from parts of Africa, however, Health Minister Greg Hunt said there were no plans to change Australia's travel rules — yet.

"If the medical advice is that we need to change [border restrictions], we won't hesitate," Mr Hunt said.

"At this stage, the advice of the Chief Medical Officer … is that there's no basis for change."
Mr Hunt pointed out that Australia was in a very different position now to when the previous variant of concern, Delta, emerged in India.

"At this point in time, there's very little traffic directly between South Africa and Australia. We also happen to be very highly vaccinated," he said.’ (Even though WHO have advised that the vaccines active in the world at the moment may not have any effect on the Nu variant)

When will these commonwealth govt idiots learn that waiting for this disease to show up and then react doesn’t work!!!!
We've waited 45 years to do this. Now our life will be complete!!

The States had no input with the planes flying in and the ships from overseas being able to dock at the ports in the early stages.  ;)

You make it sound like it’s not the state’s fault for having no control >:D When does having nothing to do with a decision have anything to do with allocation of blame. Speaking of which, ScoMo was rabbiting on, in parliament, about Gladys Alphabet being targeted by the commission of enquiry in NSW. Well of course she was targeted, the whole point to the enquiry is that she is suspected of doing something wrong. Nothing but sound bites from a worthless self interested git >:(

Mind you this description is purely relative to what my expectations are of the person who has been chosen, by the publicly elected political party, to lead the nation of which I am a member ;D

It is hard to believe that we have not banned flights from South Africa, as they have done in England. ???
I think it should be Hong Kong as well as they have already found this variant there as well.

Biggest problem in the USA is everything has to be political.

I have said it before and I will say it again, in Australia EVERYTHING that our politicians do both at state and federal level is ALL driven by politics and has been for quite a number of years.

They don't care about the country, their state or their constituents. All they care about is getting elected the next time round.

Hence we have (in Vic) weak labour politicians that tow the party line and will not tell Dan to pull his head in and listen to the people.

Liberal/Nat politicians that simply have no idea so go along with the crowd.

We have the Cross Benches that are out to get what ever they can to feather their own nests and keep themselves in office and others that are simply undesignated reps of the major parties, especially Dan's three stooges.

We have federal politicians of both parties that are absolutely no different and the cross benches the same.
