Some days are diamonds..... some days are just a Shit sandwich.

Tuesday was intake manifold day...... come hell or high water.
Got some plastic taped over the painted area so the manifold wouldn't damage any engine bay paint.
Took thermostat housing off as it just going be a pain in the arse.
Dropped it, chipped the paint on the inner guard panel as i was removing it on a section that wasn't taped up.
Lucky for me, it's right down low, out of the way and will be fine with a little touch up brush.

Had the Shits good and proper and knew then and there, Tuesday wasn't the day to be playing intakes.
So i just walked away and stripped some more doors and made a start on the R/F door instead.

The R/F door has a couple of smallish dents in it, but should be an easy taperty tap tap tap job.

Paul came over yesterday  and sussed out the bent and beaten up L/R door.
He checked out the others.... came to the conclusion that door #2 was way too much issue.
So for the L/R rear, it is door #1 after all.
The L/R copped some none too subtle treatment at times too.

After a little while, this conversation took place.
Kev, the bottom hinge is rooted.
Yeah, i know, i'm going to rebush all the hinges.
I need a better hinge now, you got any.
Yeah, i have a bucket full.
This was met with a look of....... Don't be a wanker Kev.
No, really, come here for a sec, i have a bucket full.

I think it was the 5th hinge i checked, BINGO.... got a cracker.

So, the panels are starting to align just like the planets. ( i could make a funny here about Uranus, but i won't)

We did come to the conclusion, we need to rework a little bit of the back of the left sill.
It pulls in a little at the back, which gives the illusion, the door is hanging out.
That will be sorted soon, probably next week.

Then, we got to the rear quarter panel.

When Ben The Welder Guy did my chassis stuff and Shit back in Feb, i got him to weld two small pieces in the left quarter.
They were only very small rust spots, but Ben wanted to put in one larger single piece.
Should've just done it right then i think, the area was pretty thin huh.

Paul was up my ribs yesterday for being a lazy prick, and chopped out the piece in question.
One of the old badly rusted doors, gave up some nice solid material from up high.
The roll of the top of the door was damn near perfect for the lower quarter bit.

We had a break yesterday, a really good one, on the showers/rain we've been getting out here.
The grass is going nuts.
Paul didn't need me hanging around, so i hooked into about 3 or 4 hours of mowing on Vitamin C #2. (Husky's are orange)
With more rain for the next 7 days on the forecast..... i kind of had too.

Astrid's Statesman is in this morning for an oil change/service..... that'll kill most of the morning.

The bonnet hinges went on today, so we can get the bonnet on during the week.

I need to get all my ducks in a row so we can plough some holes into that mint bonnet.
I'll pick up a set of these later in the week.

I had planned to get black ones and paint them in  body colour.
Too much paint and they bind, so polished it is.

We'll still use the standard Ford latching system as well..... just doubling up.

I finally got a decent shot at the intake today.
The last 2 weeks have been mowing, weed spraying, mowing, getting stuff prepped for Paul Jackson and mowing again.
I snuck a trip to Brisbane in yesterday to grab the bonnet pins for the car.
I don't need them this week, but we will, pretty soon.
They were in stock, so i grabbed 'em while i could.
I've been trying to come up with a better interior arm rest for the the car. (the Zephyr ones are just old and the plastic breaks.
If we need to modify the inside of the doors for the mounts, now is the time.
XT Falcon would work, but anything Ford from that era is friggin expensive.
Early Valiant would work, and only a little bit cheaper.
BUT..... Toyota Hilux ones will work.
Their cheap enough, easy to obtain.... winner winner, chicken dinner.
Called into Neil Broad's yesterday and borrowed one so i can do the door mods.
This way, i can just buy them when they come up cheap.
So anyway, the intake needs some mods around the front for the thermostat housing, but its coming up pretty good.
It's been on and off around 4 or 5 times today.
I'll slip it around to Ben soon for some spot welds and a final fit up, then back to Shane for some tweaking, then bolt the bastard to some decent steal and weld the Shit out of it.
When i was mowing on Sunday, the mum and dad bird flew away as i came down the fence line.
Junior just stayed there..... so bumped the blades off, left the mower running and gave him a pat.
Not sure what make or model of bird it is, but he seemed cute enough.

Made out of whizz bang aero grade material.  :cup:

They're a nice bit of kit..... and work really well.
I expect a high 150's (maybe 250 odd killer tomatoes)through the top end, so if the bonnet stays shut, life will be good.

The second half of the week was a right royal Shit fight.
Astrid had to work from home Wednesday, because the bridges went under.
She managed to go to work Thursday, by going the long way round.
Paul Jackson came over Thursday to beat the Shit out of Marvin again..... except.
Some idiot, forgot to tell him the bridge was under..... I'm not 100% sure, but it could've been me.
I remembered a bit late and rang him, he was 100 metres the wrong side of the flooded bridge.
It was a very late start.... but did achieve some headway.
The panel we need to make to fill in the old radiator cavity is in the "hmmm, yeah, i reckon we can do this or that" mode.
The radiator is relocated to inside the engine bay and the intercooler goes where the radiator use to.
The A/C condenser goes between the intercooler and the grill.
In prep for what's coming for the third week in a friggin row, YEAH....More friggin rain, I started mowing again..... Thursday, Friday and today.
I did manage to massage and tweak the intake and get the mods around the thermostat housing sorted.
Ben the welder guy, did some spot welds for me this morning, so i could loose the zip ties and masking tape.
I'm making a basic template for around the thermo and the very back of the intake, then it can go back to Shane for some final loving and caresses.
The humidity out here yesterday and today knocked any chances of stripping some more panels too.
WAAAY too much water in the air.
We did however, get another door and the bonnet on to test some fitments or lack thereof.
Anyway, some pictures of some progress..... lets face it, any progress is better than no progress.

some more.

Getting the clearances around the thermostat housing correct.
Allowing space for a decent throttle body.
Shit like that.

I really wish this rain/storms would just FUKK OFF.
Yesterday, has been the only day this week that any work took place.
As fast as i mow the place, i'm back at the beginning again.
Even yesterday, i took a pic of the cell developing N/W of us, this one would've gone through the northside of Brisbane.
I've got the left front guard off ready for stripping..... today i friggin hope, it will be bare arsed.
Anyway, Paul came over again yesterday and we fired up ol sparky and made some headway.
With the left rear door square to the cavity etc, Paul reworked the sill/dogleg to suit.
Prior to us, the sill has had a rust repair done, but it tapered in a tad, which gave the impression the door was the issue.
Anyway, couple of pics as we beat/bash/ and weld ol Marvin into shape
