Every weekend down here there are 100's of cars on Club plates out for a cruiser on their own, and lots in groups... I believe as long as you write it in your log book, your fine.

In the article it says 'few 100mtrs for test drive'... take that as you will.

Or….if you go for a run…don’t fill in the logbook…you is to say you went anywhere ?

Odometer readings are supposed to be filled in I’m pretty sure but may be wrong

If you get pulled over and don't have the log book dated and a start mileage in the log, the car is deemed unregistered.

Not in Queensland.
No logbook required here. ;)

Well…. Not yet anyway.

Would they then check to see if you were on a club run ?

Doesnt have to be a club run in Vic.

 Driving on a Club Permit

In addition to obeying the road rules, Club Permit vehicle holders are subject to different rules and procedures from standard road vehicles.
Additional restrictions for Club Permit holders

Club Permits are valid for either 45 or 90 driving days per year. This means Club Permit holders can use their Club Permit vehicle for that many days per year, but a log book of all trips must be kept.

A Club Permit vehicle may be driven by anyone who holds the applicable licence category for the vehicle, unless operating the vehicle as a 'driver under instruction'. Refer to the below table to see the different types of Club Permit restrictions for each Victorian licence category.

Use of Victorian Club Permit vehicles interstate
Club Permit vehicles may be driven throughout all states and territories provided that the vehicle complies with Victorian requirements for the holding of the club permit.

Use of interstate Club Permit vehicles in Victoria
A person may use a vehicle temporarily in Victoria if it has a permit issued interstate and is observing the conditions of that registration or permit.
The vehicle must have third party insurance cover in its home state or Transport Accident cover issued in Victoria.

yeah, as long as you write it in the book before you leave you can go where you want

my club is based in melbourne and i drive all around wangaratta by myself

You dont need odomoeter readings written down there is no column for that anyway sometimes i make a note of it for interest sakes

plus, you dont nominate a driver ... so i can drive one way, my wife the other, or whatever

and you can tow a camper or a trailer, not restriction there

Not sure, would depend on the cop and the driver's attitude i guess and maybe why they were pulled over in the first place.

This past week was a good example for me, with the Statesman getting the new lifters, the Fleetwood was out everyday.
Astrid to work and home again, parts runs, cyl heads to machine shop.... the list goes on.

It covered around 600klm for the week..... commuting.... so the fuel usage was horrendous.
Hmmm, 25 litres per 100, so, 6 x 25 litres = 150 @ around say, $1.60 a litre = $240 worth of fuel..... FAAAARRRRK.
No wonder I'm broke..... i must have added that up wrong surely. ???

Birds post was spot on.

You either have 45 or 90 days.  If you use up your 45 days you can get a further 45.

If you have a collection of cars you could easily rotate then and easily stay within the 90 days for each car.

There are some dodgy clubs, either a small group of mates just getting cheap rego, or some that have 100's of members who don't actually have any sort of "club" but are simply collecting membership fees.

Sounds like for some it’s just a way to get cheap rego. How much is club rego ?

BTW, our 200 series is free for rego….swapped it to the wife’s name, she has been unemployed for 2 yrs and she is over 60…!!

Roughly $150 for 90 days, $80 for 45 days.

Beats $700-800

The Fleetwood is about $1,100 a year i think..... the ol girls is V8 as well, so would be similar.
No way, i could only use the Fleetwood for 90 days a year though.

Old trick was to get club rego, and then fit personal plates. That way Mr plod couldn't tell by looking that it was a club rego. A bit more chance of being caught now though that many police cars have number plate recognition systems.

NSW has 60 days for club rego plus any club run, that is in addition to the 60 days. I know of several clubs that have every Sunday listed as a club day. Cost is $46 so not a problem if you have several cars.

Hi,
Tas has a SI (special interest) cheaper plate for older vehicles. Ninety days and must be logged prior to driving on that day. I don't know if there is a distance limit.

That's John Winterburn's car..... most new him as Stomper.

He was a huge help to drag racing.

He died of a heart attack, would be maybe a year ago now.

The 34 got stolen once, idiots were doing burnouts with it in the Hyperdome carpark..... the muppets.
