Easy set up You tube Video
« on: September 22, 2011, 09:02:18 PM »
Ive been playing around with an idea on my ct and have it working well
Its to do with set up on side fold soft floor ct
I have fitted air rams to the bows with a simple valve set up
hook up your compresor and up it goes
So now Im looking for some cts close to home that are different to mine size weight ect to see if it will work the same as my set up
If its works I will make up DIY kits and maybe a fitting service
So who wants to be a guinea pig  >:D
I live in the outer North East of Melbourne
PM me if you would like to know more

Its works ok on mine but with a heavier canvas tents and larger tents I might have to step up to bigger diameter ram
So thats why I need guinea pigs

Thanks Deano
Haven't had much time to spend on it but its getting there
The other guy I went to see Qld has one on his its working ok but could be better
Just need to spend a bit more time on it
It sounds easy but there is a bit involved
we use a lot of pneumatics at work so I can get all the bits and pieces at a good price aussie stuff
Been looking at the stuff from china heaps cheaper but not sure how long it will last
Last thing I want to do is be selling kits that wont last

Hi Brett, we have a Complete Campsite with 16' tent with heavy canvas and always keep the first awning attached to it so setup is pretty heavy if that suits your guinea pig scenario...?  We are not that far away, can arrange to go for a drive...

Hi Digger
I thought of 12v electric actuators to they are fine on the out side were you can get to them if they stop working
but if there on the inside on a side fold soft floor you cant open the tent
can be a heavey drain on your battery all depends on the weight they are pushing

Do the struts power retract as well?

I have put 500n 600mm gas struts on our side fold and it takes the entire weight of the tent and full pole bag to hold them down when packing up.
To that end I have installed 2 rope cleats to allow me to pull the tent down and keep it held while I fold the rest.
I got a sweater for Xmas, really wanted a moaner or screamer.

Hi Jon
I have simple valve set up when the tent is set up I release the air so when it comes time to pack up it drops
as if there is nothing there no struts nice and easy
