Can anyone suggest something to fit in the pole as a joiner? One of the kids fell on their swag and it snapped clean through the aluminium insert used to join the pole sections together. The inner diameter of the anodised section is roughly 7mm. Replacement pole sets are $60app and that's money we don't have right now. Any ideas? Bunnings have a selection of aluminium tubing
Or maybe copper tube
-
Sleeve may be easier than insert. I have used plastic tubing as a sleeve repair for a hiking tent pole. Bunnings have a selection of different sizes in short sections.

BCF, sell a similar pole set up.
I bought replacement ones from them, had to cut to length, and think they we're a little bigger in Diameter, but worked.
You don't use magic to disappear, ya use a 4x4 & Swag.

Maybe something here? Or a piece of tent peg?

Or a piece of tent peg?
Or as mentioned, ally tube at Bunno's, even if it goes on the outside.

Thanks all. Will head on down to bunnies on Monday after work to have a look. Already tried all my tent pegs but nothing fits.

What about a bolt? Use one with a long ‘shank’ - cut off the threaded section and head and araldite in place. Between metric and imperial you might find something close

What about a bolt?
Would need a hole added for the elastic to feed through, but not critical if OP is OK with separate sections of pole.

Folks, bought a piece of aluminium rod from the green shed. It's 6.3mm diameter so a bit loose in the end of the pole. Before I crimp it into place, I am going to grind down a 5/8 bolt to see if that works better. Hadn't actually thought about the need to feed the shock chord through. If I can't drill through it, will just have to have separate pole sections.
Thanks for your help guys.

Would something like this work: https://www.bunnings.com.au/gcon-8mm-clear-vinyl-tube-fitting-start-connector-5-pack_p3130755 (https://www.bunnings.com.au/gcon-8mm-clear-vinyl-tube-fitting-start-connector-5-pack_p3130755)
BGS also have short pieces of tube like this: https://www.bunnings.com.au/pope-8mm-x-7cm-clear-vinyl-tubing-joiner_p3130584 (https://www.bunnings.com.au/pope-8mm-x-7cm-clear-vinyl-tubing-joiner_p3130584), which may be enough to take the slack out of the fitting ???
