I'm not up to date with the Jayco models, is that a new style of off road van?
-
looks like the 2011 model.
Some of our friends have ordered one. We saw their photos when they were out on Saturday finalising the order.
I understand a coupe of differences noting the integrated box on the draw bar, and I think the internal layout is a little different.
-
I quite like the look of that!!
-
Yeah, I like that
-
Looks good. Though the access into the front storage box looks high for the vertical challenged like myself
-
I don't really worry to much about what it looks like (within reason),
so long as it is practical and does the job required of it,
I'd be more interested in the build quality!
just my .02c worth
cheers

Will access into the front boot be compromised a bit when set up, by its proximity to the bed base? Just a thought. ???

Was thinking the same thing, its hard enough to get into as it stands. Looks like the gas bottle must be in the front boot as well. If they have improved the door then that is a good thing.

Thanks for the photo D4D. We contacted Jayco and they advised the following changes to the 2011 model campers.
NewMax
The main change to the camper is the outside look. The layouts have not changed.
Listed below is what we have upgraded
• New style front & rear ABS moulds
• New larger front moulded boot with concealed gas bottles
• New style door-more user friendly, stronger & improved aesthetics
• New style roof design with incorporated annexe track
• Upgraded tent
• Upgraded joinery
• Upgraded décor colours
• Upgraded floor vinyl
• Upgraded laminex
• Upgraded Smev 4BG
• New style alloy wheels – 2 tone (black/chrome finish)
• Upgraded external graphics
• New style sink – large bowl
Outbacks
• Alko Drop Jacks
• New angled checker plate design
• Boot lid storage rack
• Upgraded tent
-
Looks like they are just trying to make it look as good as mine ;D Angled checker plate pffft, some number cruncher just worked out that they can use less checker plate and charge more :police:
That boot does look like it would be rather unfriendly from a user perspective however if that new door is somehow more solid and better sealing as it looks to be I will be ordering one and doing a retrofit :cup:
-
Looks like there is some good improvements.
Bigger front boot is a good thing, but i reckon a couple of 9kg gas bottles and plumbing would take up a fair bit of room. Door is a definate improvement
I must say im spewing a tad. Only having mine for a couple of months after the loooooooooong wait, and now they come out with and better model :'( If i knew they were bringing it out soon after i ordered mine i would have waited.
Anyhow anything to get you out there is good enuff
-
I think with the front boot looking like that this model should be known as the porta potty ;D
Have to agree with you BD, making a bigger boot only to fill it with gas bottles and plumbing is a step backwards and really achieves little other than a cosmetic change. If they weren't such tight wads and threw an extra 300mm on the drawbar as standard so gas bottles could sit in front of the boot, then I would see it as an improvement. Definitely looks like a toilet seat the more I look at it.
-
I am to young to be reading about Jaycos ;D
-
Thanks for the shots D4D. Interesting new look.
Any improvement to the door would be a good thing!

Why have'nt they added the checker plate protection to the entry and the storage doors?
The more I look @ it, It Looks like an after thought on Jayco's behalf.
-
YUK! that's ugly ???
-
Yeah looks ok but from what i have read here, they should probably spend more time and money getting the quality control issues sorted out before adding more fruit.
My 2c :)

:D It does a bit Burnsy.
Went down to Jayco today and took the Swan for a service. Took a couple of pics whilst there.
Would be a bit of a ballbreaker having to pull in the bed to change Gas bottles.

Yeah I heard they had a few down at Bayswater :D
My thoughts a still out on the new boot.
It sort of looks like they changed the design just for the hell of it because the old design had been around for so long.
Pre fibreglass body days too. If that makes sense ;D ;D

Saw one in the flesh today at the show in Newcastle. Was looking at the Swan, the boot is very deep so anything you pack in the bottom make sure you don't need to get at it in a hurry. Inside, well they continue the great caravan tradition of having the terrible colour selections, I noticed that they hand pump has been replaced with a fancy looking thing. The tent looks different but not sure that the quality is any better. The orange stickers, not sure what they were thinking.
One good improvement is the door, it appears to be a lot sturdier then it was and I noticed that they have put a decent hatch cover on where the winding handle goes.
Interestingly they have not updated their web site yet.
-
The door does look like a big improvement. Not sure about the boot though.

that's like the older ones. our 2006 swan had one similar to that.

Yeah it is I would suggest, I recently replaced mine to one like that. I did not look at the water hatch but I am thinking of changing mine as well.

presumably you had to cut the camper to make the hole bigger. what did you use?

Yes it needed a bigger hole, and I did not do it, mine was in having some work done under and insurance claim and I got Jayco to do it....all up it cost me $60 so was worth letting them go nuts....lol

We ordered an Eagle Outback a week ago, wife didnt like the orange sticker, but we like the larger boot
even though we knew after looking at one that its going to be a pain in the *** when the beds are out,
but hey just dont run out of gas ???, & get everything out thats deep down in the boot before ya set up.
We're looking forward to getting it around first week of April (just in time for Easter Break)
Kev
-
Yup ... looks great! I like the orange sticker ...
I know that I'm forever going back to my tool box under the front bed after I'm set up ... thankfully I can open mine right up. Not sure what Jayco was thinking there ????
-
We have just ordered a Swan, but a bit of a wait. Will have the following-
Simplicity suspension
HWS
Fiamma
Bed flies
Air Con
Solar Panel
Drop legs
Stereo
Picnic table
BBQ
Waeco fridge and delete the wardrobe.
Won't arrive until after Easter

I've heard form a dealer that Jayco have a team of designers just on campers. Suppose something has to change (for better or worse) to justify their existence and to take on the competition. The orange decal must be a Gen Z thing (LoL). Out of interest I came across a Supreme wind-up camper listed on
http://www.caravancampingsales.com.au/buy/details.aspx?R=10043863&keywords=supreme&__Ntk=StockAll&__Nne=15&__No=15&Dx=&__D=supreme&Ntx=&silo=1701&seot=1&__sid=12E3F7063099&__N=1549%201552%201600&__Ns=p_StockRankSort_Int32%7c1%7c%7cp_Make_String%7c0%7c%7cp_Model_String%7c0%7c%7cp_Year_Int32%7c1%7c%7cp_StockPrice_Decimal%7c1&Cr=11&__Ntt=supreme&trecs=29&__Qpb=true
Anyone know anything about these ?
