Title: Country music fans
Post by: solidute on January 07, 2019, 03:00:13 PM
Where do you find new music?

Before I knew it wasnt kosher I used to download off the googlewebs and just delete what I didn't like.

These days I get a recommendation and use iTunes to acquire my tunes.

I don't want to be buying compilation after compilation looking for a few good songs as I find it a waste of money.

I have no country music AM/FM  radio stations I can listen to to find new/good music.

So all things considered, where could I easily find and assess country music before I buy?

For the record I prefer the more modern version of country music over the older stuff. That said some older stuff is good too.

A few examples of bands/singers I like
Garth Brooks
Alan Jackson
Darius Rucker
Zac Brown band
Lee Kernaghan
Adam Harvey

Of course that is a small sample but a reasonable idea of my preferences.

Anyway, Cheers for taking the time to read this.

I use Spotify to create playlists and use the Simple Radio app. This app has squillions of radio stations and I can listen to my favourite country station - 188.fm - Real Country, online. I tend to stream this station through the car radio when on the road, bugger all ads and the music is better than the crap they play on the traditional FM dial.

Cheers
Brett

Cheers. I use Spotify too but not interested in paying for premium so can't do much with it.

I'll have a look at the simple Radio app and check out that station.

Cheers

Also I don't really know my way around Spotify so...

Just checked out simple Radio, only real country station I could find was 181fm? No 188?

Anyway is there a way to display the current song playing on there?

Cheers

Yeah sorry it is 181 not 188.

You can view the current and previous songs played at www.181.fm (http://www.181.fm). Choose the station from the list on the left hand side to display all songs played over the previous 3 hours.

You can stream MMM country, or download the app.
Some of the country music artists I can listen to (theres lots I cant)
Allison Krauss and Union City
Kasey Chamber with Shane Nicholson on "Rattlin Bones". "Wreck and Ruin" is as good IMO.
Margo Prices album "Midwest Farmers Daughter" is great
Old Crow Medicine Show
Ozark mountain Daredevils
Trace Adkins
Brothers Osborne.
Darius Rucker(ex Hootie & the Blowfish) does county stuff.

Dwight Yoakam, Keith Urban and Brothers Osborne live
