FYI.
I've just wasted day and half on this one

Newish laptop E7250 Dell comes with 3x USB 3 ports ONLY - no USB 2.
No built in DVD player - using External USB one.
Trying to reinstall Windows 7 64bit off the Genuine Dell CD
Windows 7 DVD doesn't include USB3 drivers.
Doesnt know about the DVD Drive at all... tells you to get ****ed

This fixes it.

For you savy ones.
Ive got a Galaxy S2 tab. Of late I cant open Word doc's stored on the tab.
I can open ones on emails or if downloaded, but the ones in "My Files" wont open.
They were created and saved on the tab, and used to open ok, but last few months they wont open. Ive googled it but havent found a fix.
Anyone got any ideas?

Cheers Glen

They open on a PC
When I try and open them on the Galaxy it opens Word, which is just a blue screen with Word written on it.
Im on nights tonight so dont have my tab to take a screen shot.

just wanted to give a quick review/shoutout to backblaze...

since getting my new QNAP NAS (thanks to Bird  ), i have moved my offsite backups from amazon glacier to backblaze, more specifically their B2 cloud storage product.

was a snap to sign up for and configure on the QNAP, with built-in integration for easy backup job creation.

i have uploaded approx. 300GB of documents (over 12,000 files), music (over 39,000 files) and pictures (over 18,000) to three separate 'buckets', with no issues at all.

the music upload was the longest, taking approx. 36 hours, using my 30mbps NBN FTTN upload connection...

according to backblaze, my first bill for this storage will come to a grand total of 86 cents...  ;D

it has been easy to setup, easy to configure and easy to integrate...  can't ask for much more than that...

would highly recommend any of backblaze's backup products or services...

no affiliation, just a happy customer...

We use emcopy for long copies of a lot of data... It's EMCs command line tool, a bit hard to find though - give me a yell if you want to give it a go

Is this a DR type of replication, or for backups?

One for the Boffins.

What AV are you using with Windows 10 and the latest update - Version 2004?

Our Symantec End Point 14.0x is now not compatible, and our Trend Micro BSOD with TMESCORE.SYS error's.

Im not sure if this will affect home users with their AV too...

???

We use Windows Defender with good results.

Our daughter brought her PC around because it wasn't working and a bit of sleuthing revealed that it was full of viruses. And by full I mean FULL. When I quizzed her she told me that she'd tried everything under the sun both paid and free but nothing can stop a house full of teenagers. All I did was reinstall Windows with Defender and applied all of the updates and told her to keep it updated and for the last six months or so she's been OK. Of course the kids moaned about some of their doubtful gams will no longer work because they're being blocked but they don't seem to have died yet. :D

Windows Defender along with only an unprivileged user I reckon is the way to go.

WOW - there are organisations that actually use mcafee!  I only thought gullible home users use it because they inadvertently downloaded and installed when they installed adobe acrobat reader.    The standard offering from MS is actually pretty good these days.  We use it on approx 6000 desktops and mobile devices

Business version is a completely different beast to the consumer version.

I didn’t pick it.  I just know the business uses it.  I’ve had zero issues with it in 9 years of being here...

We are rearranging the offices here and will have everyone within 10ft of each other ... all on the phone all day, with foghorn voices... - Finance, sales, CSR's, you name it - a plan which will fail, but they wont listen.
Looking for noise cancelling headphones to use on the PC and mobile fones (apparently the desk phones that everyone uses dont matter... nobody uses mobiles, but thats critical... ?? )

Ordered a plantronics set, but the noise cancelling isnt what I expected.. maybe Im hoping for too much
- wireless
- blue tooth

what do you use around the office... ?
