I'm sure if he was to read this post he would feel about 1 inch tall as he may well be a half decent person too.

I was in Melbourne the other day. I am helping my mrs carry the pram, and our 1 year old, up a long flight of stairs. We are on the left hand side. I have one hand on the pram and one hand holding onto our 4 year olds hold. The mrs is also herding our 6 year old up the stairs. Coming down the stairs is a 50 year old guy and his wife. When we meet head on he refuses to move. His wife does not move either. We end up yielding and going around them. He tells me "learn to Fing walk". I really wanted to tell him "to the left in this country mate". I did not want scene with the kids seeing it. Some people are born Aholes. They can't be heaped.

The health and welfare of MRS BARRABART is without doubt the most import thing in all this and I reiterate my best wishes and continued recovery.

Many years ago when I thought I was a tough guy I used to say things like we have all said in some recent posts and one day I was driving along the highway towing my boat and this idiot was doing 50k/ph in the right lane so I as a big tough guy I started to tailgate and give the flash of the lights ect you know because I was the most important person in the world .

So this fool slows down even more which further irritates me and i hop on the horn and place the ARB bar about 6 inches from the rear of this car...

THEN the car comes to a complete stop in the right hand lane ,well that's it I get out and walk up to the driver..

I find a 70 year old lady besides herself with fear ,shaking uncontrollably and in tears , I instantly feel like the right prick I was and find out here husband a ww2 vet is hospital about to die and she had no money for a taxi so she took the car . I can not explain to you all how that incident has stayed with me for my entire adult life and the guilt I still feel today .

I think I am a decent person ,but on that day I made one very silly decision.

So I guess my point is that although she should not have been on the road and all that it still did not excuse my behaviour and to this day i try to redeem myself because of it and try to see the best in everyone and hope that like me they just made a very silly decision on a given day.

We are all very good people on this forum and I would hate to think that we could not as a group claim and hold the moral high ground when discussing these situations . I will always hope upon hope that every time someone does something stupid like this bloke did that they will regret it and spend the rest of their life as I have reminding themself of how our actions can effect other decent people.

I know it's easy to vent and want to lynch them and string em up but as a society if we get to that level over every incident then we leave ourselves no room to move on the larger issues . And this is what seems to be the case these days,we all want vengeance over every little thing ,but vengeance leaves a very hollow feeling long after the fire has simmered .

If we lynched this bloke  and had his kids or mother staring at us begging for mercy how would we all feel. Your right he acted like a right prick but you my friend are the better human being and acted like it on the day, maybe not today or tomorrow but one day i hope he will regret the course of action he took , and may show the same decency and overall strength of character that you showed should he ever be faced with a prick like he was.

I know I have portrayed myself as the devils advocate on this issue ,but I have seen what happens when a group of decent people alter their actions because of others ,is starts a spiral that is almost impossible to reverse.

Both you and your wife are the better people and should be commended for your restraint , Patience and understanding that some times we as humans do very silly things to eachother.

I hope this may have shed some light on my perspective and I apologise if my comments caused you or your wife any greater anguish than you are currently going through it was certainly not my intent.

Kind regards
and best wishes

Don't try any of that in Seth Efrika rescue1, they have guns there :)
Fortunately the vast majority of people here are quite friendly and polite. If the traffic lights aren't working evrybody stops and takes it in turns to go - even if you're doing a right hand turn. On narrow country roads the slow vehicles pull to the left to let the faster ones past, the slow vehicle flashes his lights to indicate its ok to pull back in and the faster gives 3 flashes of the hazard lights as thank you. Back home if that ever happend there'd be a cop to book the slow driver for travelling in the "breakdown" lane and flashing his head lights and the faster one for crossing the centre line.....

One thing I have learned as I've got older and learned a lot of the things I though I knew when I was younger is that most of the time there's no point in getting angry at 90% of the arrogant pr*cks as they don't understand and the other 10% get even more p*ssed off when you don't react.

No anguish here mate.......... like i said i earlier i appreciate and respect your points on this matter........... And i'm sure once you seen the old lady in the car you didn't continue with your initial intentions....... that there is the significant difference between half decent and decent.

Just share my experience, My wife had a begnine tumor removed from her hearing/balance nerves about 13yrs back, about 6hrs in theater, about 2 days later, Doctor comes by tells us she is fine to travel home ,then refuses to sign documents that allow us to claim some costs as he feels she does not need an escort to get home, she had to learn to walk with no balance on one side. Short story I controlled my self and the Doctor did not have to learn how to fly from a 7th floor window, we did get the signature but no personal apology (Doctors back them did not know how to) and she stayed in hospital for another 4 days ( Sydney to Wollongbar trip 3 days, was all she could handle) so much for what that ass knew, it had more to do with bed space, that still ticks me off. >:(
