Title: G'Day All (11th Dec. more pics included)
Post by: sschmez on November 30, 2010, 06:45:08 PM
=========================================================================

G'Day All, Stevo here.

Been lurking around this forum a while and decided to join up ... seems a reasonable bunch over here ;D
even recognise a few of you from a few other places 8)

Annette and I have had a custom camper since 2006 and get away when we can (not always with the camper either). Nick is 2 1/2 and has been camping/campering since 4 mths old and seems to enjoy as much as we do.

I understand the rules  :worthles:

so here ya go:

here's a pic of our "convoy" to fit dogs and kid etc.

now we're down to two shepherds and can go away in one car again.

We spend a bit of time in the Vic High Country and especially looking around and visiting the "Huts"
Photos are posted on flickr (http://www.flickr.com/photos/sschmez/sets/).

See you out there

Loving that set up Stevo, so organised, have a few ideas now. Love the pics- where exactly was the second pic taken, beautiful. Can't wait to see more pics and trip reports. I'd also love info on where you take your pooches camping. We have a nearly 2 year old lab we want to take away with us on a few trips and am always keen on ideas.

Cheers
Louise. :D

G'day Stevo, welcome aboard.

I see from Flickr you REALLY are a 'Hut nut'.  Are you ticking them off the bucket list as you see them?

If you have any other shots of the camper, i'd love to see them.  Always after tips and tricks on the kitchen set up etc... ( i initially thought those blue boxes were somehow attached to the bottom of the table like drawers, until i realised it was just perspective and the eyes were playing tricks on me!)

Thanx everyone for the nice welcome.

yep LJ you're right, I've been accused of being a "Hut nut" before and I guess I resemble that remark. I've got about 300 huts (ruins, sites and huts) waypoints on Ozi and only about half way ;D I don't claim to be a photographer but try to record how things looked on the day I was there.

I'll get a couple more shots of the camper up for you LJ, if I can find some decent ones;) Our camper kitchen is a pretty well made, home made job and slides out the side of the trailer near the front. As you can see the camper is an "off the Back" model. Those blue boxes you see are the "eskies" (can't beat a beer off ice) and the table is just a Bunnings blow mould job.

Hi Louise, glad I chose a pic when things are fairly organised ;) ...the second pic is at Wombat Crossing, on the Avon river, near Valencia Crk here in Vic. Was there last January and about 40° that day nice spot though and we all had a swim (bath?)dogs included. Since we're very self sufficient when we're camping, we'll find a campsite quite easily. Anywhere in state forest (dogs OK) with a bit of flatish grass or dirt and maybe some water nearby is a campsite.

G'Day D4D, unfortunately "Kane" the alarm in that photo isn't with us anymore, but his son "Nitro" and Nitro's mum "Ronja" (both GS dogs) do the job just as well. Problem is they're on holidays with us when they should be at home working  :police:

here's another pic of a holiday with the extended family and "Tarp Mahal" attached so there's room for us all.

Ignore the sign - not mine ... was ironic in the middle of a drought though

Hi Stevo and welcome.
That is a great setup, but, it is so neat and tidy it could be a display home in a new housing estate :cup: :cup: :cup: :cup:
Are you as tidy at home? >:D >:D >:D

Cheers

Welcome stevo  I spent a bit of time riding trail bikes up in the Vic high country as a youth but it's hard to appreciate when your riding around the bush like a maniac >:D so it's on my list of things to do when I get my CT hooked up and head south

G'day Steve and welcome.

Can't believe I joined a forum (one that's useful to us both) before you did.   I think you've always beat me to it so far.

Great pics there, thanks for sharing. Vic High Country is definitely on our must do list. So there's a fair bit that permits dogs then? Fantastic! I always thought most of the Vic High Country prohibited dogs, so I'll do a bit more investigation.

HaHa, the dogs don't do anything ... they're on holidays too

They just seem to lie around camp, wander down to the river for a sniff and a drink and then lie around some more. Just them being there is probably enough though.

Yoda42, thankfully not all the high country has been locked up (yet). The Alpine National Park is the no go for dogs but it's mostly surrounded by "State Forest" where dogs are permitted.
