Title: TF Rodeo Wheel nuts What do the alloys use?
Post by: achjimmy on December 04, 2012, 12:45:16 PM
Chasing some genuine TF Rodeo mags, the guy doesnt have the nuts, presuming these are a "step" or "shoulded" nut unlike the steel wheels with tapered lug nuts?  I see ebay is full of replacement wheel nuts, anywhere else people can suggest i try?

if they are genuine they should use the same profile nut - vehicle manufactures usually standardise these things

Try Holden Spare Parts

I think GeeTee is right, Factory mags will probably use the same nut.

Have a look at:

http://www.speco.com.au/accnuts.html#mag (http://www.speco.com.au/accnuts.html#mag)

Also, check out the Mag.  If the hole has a bevelled edge it will use the Steel Wheel type nut.  If its square, it will use the aftermarket "mag wheel" type nut, with the slimmer base.

Any holden ive ever had with factory mags allways used the standard nut!

Mite be worth giving speco a call.

Yep, same as mine.

I was trying to remember what the taper was like.  Those are designed to keep the cap on as well.

(im trying to find a pic of a TF Mag to give a better informed opinion)

If its ones like this tho, it looks like they use the standard nut because the centre caps are still in use.

Im also trying to remember what a rodeo mag looks like?  Could they be a Jackaroo one?

Also, many mag nuts use a thick washer, which fits within a flat recess in the "hole".

Thanks Mace

Wheels and the nut they use below.

Now these wheels were on the sport i think which had flares, wonder if they fit under normal guards?

I went to Holden recently to get a new nut/washer for my daily 2x4 2000 Rodeo. I did my apprenticeship there years ago so expected to be looked after. $20 for one nut (trade)!
Needless to say my ute is running 5 nuts instead of 6 on the LHR....

Yeah dealerships aren't what they used to be, when I bought this I was driving back from Brisbane. I ducked into Holden to grab a radiator cap as it was convienant, they are End of line and GMH don't stock them anymore. Was no hassle to get one from Repco but pretty piss poor IMO.

Can you take a closer pic of the "hole" so I can see the bevel.

The nut looks ok, as long as there isnt a countersunk section in which a flat washer sits.

The rodeo guards a built for a 16 inch rim.  They look like 15's, so should be ok.

That's the only photo they provided. They are 16's but I was worried about the width, the only time I have seen those rims they have been on the " sport" model which had the bolt on flares. Worse case I run some flexy flare. I have found an eBay seller with the same lug nuts above for $50 posted.

Just gotta try and get them to Sydney.

I dont think you will have much problem with width, see the pic I posted, they only use a slight flare.  Probably more for good looks than actual requirement.  The standard 6 inch rim will accommodate a 225/70/16 tyre no problem (they use a 205R16 as standard).

A 235/70/16 mite leave a bit of mud splatter on the guard, but not worth worrying about.

Plenty of rodeo's run around on 10R15's tyres.  I run 9.5R15's, which I reckon are as wide, or wider than the rubber in your pics (the rim does have a bigger offset tho).

If the alloy doesnt have a washer receptacle, then those nuts look ok.
