Notch Point
« on: May 18, 2015, 01:51:00 AM »

   G'day all,
Just did a weekend shake down in preparation for Cape trip in about 10 weeks.  Went to Notch Point which is located about an hour south of Mackay.....Weather was crap...blew 30 knots...rain....but the wifey and i both enjoyed it.  Grand kids come down for the day on Sat.   A few minor things to fix and get sorted.  It beat staying at home........

How'd the camper go mate. You said a few problems.  Looks like a good spot.
I worked out why you went on Friday, couldn't bear to watch the Cowboys touch up the Broncos ??
Got any more pics of the area?

Haven't been to notch for many years but it's a top spot. we go to cape Palmerston each yr sometimes twice. Will be doing two weeks in Sept taking both patrols with the camper and little tinny. It's not far for a look so come say hi if any of you make it that way. We will be at Cape Palmerston probably camping at windmill bay for the whole of the school holidays cheers Paul

We did similar, a shakedown trip to Kinchant dam as we are off for 4 months cruising around starting mid June. Was good at the dam as we were sheltered from the wind.

Been meaning to get down to notch point with the camper. It's a great spot. You certainly did pick a doozy of a weekend for it. That wind was howling. But that's the good thing about notch, you just setup around the other side and its all good.
We also do Cape Palmerston quite regularly for day or long weekend trips. I like Cape Palmerston its a bit harder to get to and seems more out of the way and there is always lots of exploring to do.

Hey Tracker,
I am in Rocky, I have family in Sarina, we spend 7 days at notchy every easter and try to get there for 1 or 2 weekend trips every year.  Usually go for the crabbing and the ease of putting the boat in, couple of beers back to camp and on the beach for a game of cricket with the kids.  My missus loves the fact we can camp on grass and only 5 meters away there is a great beach to play on.

Loved Notch point. Only bugger is the bol s and loons that use it as a Friday night pissup and disco venue. Otherwise awesome location.
