Hmm, lets see....

Oil change and filters on two cars being prepared for sale.
Check all the fluids and give the Caddy a quick once over.
Finish doing the mock up of the garden bridge i'm building.

Dismantle everything, paint the steel frame.

Start assembling back together out in the garden area next to the shed.

I've made a huge number of cuts of timber and not one single cut yet performed, has come out with a straight cut.

Knocked up a portable bench for my Kreg Pocket Hole Jig, all from scrap so pretty happy. Couple more coats of linseed oil and she'll be good to go.

Only had mine a week, I bought the K4 plus a 6" automax clamp and ordered the bench stops. I'm a cabinet maker by trade but haven't worked in the game for 40 years and now want to get back into a few projects. Putting together a clamping and work table, need the bench stops before I drill it and then it will be all go, plan on making a couple of baby change tables for my girls for starters.

2 jobs on the list today. (The Caddy gets some loving today)

1. Remove the air cond blower motor and suss out the crook bearing in it.

2. Remove and service the 6 way power seat gearbox. (the seat won't go forwards or back)

The seat is in a perfect spot for me, but not the wife.
I have a perfect 2nd hand unit here, so i'll swap that in and service the old one for resale or a spare.

Could it be just the seat switch or a fuse  thats  crook .

The common cause, is the white grease in there from the factory goes hard as a rock.
The gears seldom strip and the cables (Mini speedo cable looking things) seldom break as well.
It still tilts both ways and goes up and down, just not back and forth.

I got a fully serviced 2nd hand unit for $125 USD a few months back.
Unbolt the seat, tip in back and old gearbox out and the newish one in and re-bolt the seat down.

I'm hoping, CBC or the like will have a bearing for the blower motor.
If not, as long as the old one is still fair, i'll heat up some high temp wheel bearing grease in a tin.
Drop the old bearing in and then let it cool.
Instant packed bearing ready for refitting.

I might try to convince the wife to have a drive of it over the week-end.
She's a bit reluctant, as she knows how much I love the thing and that I would kill her if she marked it.

Bought a K5 jig not long ago. Used it recently to knock up a rough table for outside. Worked a treat.
Bought one of these yesterday https://www.carbatec.com.au/carbatec-330mm-thicknesser-benchtop-helical-head
Hope to get a heap of use out of it soon. Already have a 6" jointer, 12" table saw and a 12" Bosch Sliding drop saw.

OK, we're making progress.

I found, if I stood on my head, tied my left arm behind my back, stuck my tongue until it nearly touched my nose,  I could just get enough room to fit my chubby body in there and get the blower motor out.

Its a "Made in China" unit from Napa that doesn't look too old. The bearings are fine.

Its the actual fan itself. It looks like a mini washing machine tub with a locating boss in the centre. The location boss has come loose from the fan itself. I'm going to have a go at securing it again by knurling the two back together until they become tight again.

If that doesn't work, I know where I can get one in the states

I just don't want to have the Air Cond out of action for two weeks.

Soooooo....

I've managed to knurl the original pressed unit to be a pretty tight fit. I did try Keith Dean in Brisbane (an hour away) to see if he had one, but drew a blank.

Tested the fan before refitting.... ha ha ha. I was holding it in my hand and just as I tested it I thought, I wonder if these things have much snort.

Friggin thing nearly took off, missed my face by inches, but there was no way I was dropping it.

Refitted and working quiet as a mouse now.

The fan motor itself looks relatively new, certainly only 3 or 4 years old would be my guess.

If it plays up again, i know what to order before tearing everything out. Not the best job to do on a hot day, but at least my Air Conditioning is working again.

Oh, I found the tube that comes off the blower motor was quite loose too. I slipped some thin rubber strips in the joins and tightened all that up again too.

All in all, pretty happy, all fixed and only a labour cost.... no parts.

In fact, I think I might go have a cold beer just because I can and replace the seat gearbox tomorrow.

I have a mitre saw, that's all, everything else is cut by hand, planed by hand. What brand of table saw do you have and is it any good?

I had everything when I lived in the states. Built my whole kitchen out of maple that I paid $1.14/board foot for rough sawn. Left it all over there because of the voltage difference. Wish I could go back and bring it with me and just get a transformer.

I might head out to the shed and have a lash at the seat gearbox shortly.

I'll have to move the van out the front, then the Lantra and Avalon can go out as well, then i'll put the other Avalon outside so I can park the Caddy in the centre of the shed with the doors wide open.

Thank Christ the Statesman and the Magna are in separate spots.

Might be time to Scrounge up a few bits Kev ..  To  rig up a small tank / drums  to the shed with taps on the down pipes to make it a recycle  system, Couple of Solar panels 12V pump / sprinklers and a couple of old Caterpillar type machinery / batteries to power it, Wouldnt hurt to get  a couple of big Davies Craig type thermo fans on the windows to flow some air in through some damp hessian coolers ..

Never found it much use on a single skinned roof, great on the house. I lined my shed with 50mm polystyrene to insulate it, offered some help against extreme heat. Workshop, no insulation and it gets bloody hot.
