6 Self Drive Tours
« on: May 21, 2018, 11:22:28 AM »
As well as the 3 Full Day Guided 4wd Tours that are on offer, there are also 6 Self Drives that you can do which are:

1) Sunrise Drive to Razorback Lookout
This one will have people getting up early to go watch the sunrise over that iconic Flinders Ranges photo spot.
People will need to depart at 5.45am and is a 40min drive, but well worth the experience!

2) Arkaroo Rock/Cazneaux Tree/Sacred Canyon
This one combines some Aboriginal Rock Art as well as the famous Cazneaux Tree and takes about 3 hours all up.  You can also add in the 'Welcome to Country' at Wilpena if you time it right by leaving Rawnsley at approx 2pm!

3) Moralana Scenic Drive inc Bunyeroo Valley
Some stunning scenery on this drive which will also take about 3 hours. An absolute must do when visiting the Flinders!

4) Visiting Blinman*
Blinman is a 45min drive north of Rawnsley.
When there you can take in a historic walk around the township, have lunch at the iconic pub, then go on an underground mine tour.
There is also the option of travelling a further 20mins to Angorichina Station and doing the Blinman Pools Walk which is a 12km return hike.

5) Arkapena 4wd Track*
This is Rawnsley's own self drive off road track which starts pretty much at the homestead and costs $50pv and will take about 4.5hrs

6) Appealina Ruins/Stokes Hill Lookout/ Hucks Lookout/Rawnsley Lookout*
Wonderful history and inspiring views!  Learn about the trials and tribulations of John Wills through the information boards while viewing the ruins of Appealina Homestead and more.  Then on the way back to Rawnsley stop in and have a look at the awesome views from the many scenic vantage points!

* These are the dog friendly self drives.  Unfortunately dogs are not allowed into the Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park.

Other Things To Do At The National Meet:
1) Rawnsley has a couple of walks that people can do and they also have a mountain bike trail for those bringing their mountain bikes
2) People can go and visit Wilpena Pound and there they have several different walks where people can see the Pound, as well as Aboriginal Cultural Tours
3) Scenic Flights - both Rawnsley and Wilpena do scenic flights (Rawnsley with helicoptors and both have fixed wing aircraft)
4) Woolshed Restaurant - if people want a break from cooking they can enjoy an excellent meal here for either lunch or dinner.
