Finally Getting Around to an Introduction
« on: March 22, 2015, 09:01:33 AM »
I thought it about time that I introduce myself and get involved in the forum rather than lurk in the shadows.

My name's Grahame, just in case my witty and original forum name is confusing to some. I've been camping and four wheel driving for around 35 years, mainly in the High Country. Over the years I've gone from tents to a Chesney Kampa Van, back to a tent, to an O'Brians Butterfly Camper plus tent, to where I'm at now with a Jurgens Stargazer hybrid.

For many years I wanted a hard floor camper and I was all set to buy a Cub. Just before I bought the Stargazer I watched my mate pack up his Cub and it was only a couple of minutes longer than me packing up my Black Wolf Turbo with all its extensions. As usual with our trips we were packing up wet which meant that the whole shebang had to be set up again when I got home. This got me thinking that I should skip a generation in my camping evolution and go for a hybrid, no more wet canvas for Grahame. How wrong was I, the Stargazer has more canvas than any of my other camping combinations! Nevertheless, I love the 'gazer and wouldn't go back to a camper.

I'll start a thread on the Stargazer in the Cross Over/Caravan section to give you all a look at the old girl.

Cheers,

Apparently I must have reminded my parents of some kind of unrefrigerated pork product. And they gave me the weird ass spelling of my name which always causes problems ... a pox upon them!

Grahame
Found your Thread on your Stargazer, well we have one too but sadly we are not using ours as often as we like so now we have decided to put it up for sale.  We have the same model as yours and yes when we were away in April this year we had a morning with rain, but we had our bed covered at the end but no annex up which was a mistake-Wet Breakfast.  If we don't sell we are considering buying a Fiamma Awning which we have seen on another Jurgens with both the Awning and Canvas awning.  We have been told that the Jurgens is known down South your way but up here in Sunny Qld (Most of the Time) it's not.  We liked it for the same reason like you it gives you the best of both worlds, you can go anywhere with it, tows like a dream, bit limited on storage but we manage.  We have a Fiamma Fan in ours which we got Jurgens to put in before we brought it-works well.  Love to hear from you and your travels
