Hi Guys
I have just joined Myswag.
We have just purchased a Cub camper Supermatic Regal with the transpack fitted.
 We are excited about the future trips and the experiences awaiting.
The next purchase is a suitable vehicle,this I will need some help with. Do I need a 4wd or AWD.
 Our trips will not be serious offroad just sand and dirt roads.
Any suggestions from you knowledge people will be greatly welcome.

G'day & Welcome Thommo.

Congrats on the new camper. What vehicle. Oh boy, first post and you've launched with a big one  8).
It all depends on what you like to do, where and with whom. A fourby gives more options, but there are plenty of great campsites that are accessible by most vehicles.

What are you thinking of?

Thank you for your reply.
At the moment we are going to use our family car (Camery,not suitable) until we can decide.
I would be travelling with my wife.
Our bucket list would be accross to Perth up to Kimberelys.Birdsville Races,Cooktown. and of course other trips .
We  don't want a big heavy 4WD unless it is necessary.
Our current thoughts  Nissan XTrail,Subuaru Outback, VW Tiguan, Hilux.

For the trip you mention, the only vehicle I could recommend from that list would be HiLux. Not that the others aren't good vehicles, they are, and they may well make it, but should you run into difficulty the Toyota is going to be the easiest to sort out, and probably the least likely to cause trouble.

Subaru outback would be the pick of the awd and quite capable where clearance is not an issue. The a symmetric driveline is the best of he awd.

Welcome to the tribe Jeff.  Love my Outback.  Very capable on the tar and dirt.  Self levelling rear suspension is a bonus.  Now comes with an auto diesel.  But having said that, anything more than maintained gravel roads, I would suggest a looking at a 4WD.
