Went in 2016 held in Birdsville due to the wet. Never again with that many people.

Went 2017 with 7500 people at Big Red. Not an issue at all, well organised and had a blast. Horses for courses.
Would go back in a heartbeat if I could afford it.

We were out there last year for the Big Red Run. All runners got free tickets to the bash but we had to get home after the run. Leaving town on the Tuesday I think it was there were tons of campers in the common waiting for the camping to open up. Driving back through Windorah, Quilpie and Cunnamulla the traffic heading to Birdsville was horrendous. The amount of people with no road etiquette was staggering as a lot of the roads between the places I mentioned was single lane bitumen with wide shoulders. The idea was to slow down and each drop a wheel onto the dirt shoulder as you pass but the amount of times I played chicken to force the oncoming driver to do that was amazing.

most of the roads around mates farm at Timboon are like that...  You can tell teh locals, they drop off early.. you can tell the tourists, they stop in middle of the road and attempt to abuse the locals.

Ha ha spot on. I had some people drop off completely and even drive down the table drain to give me room because I was towing. Most of them looked like locals.

I like them to stay on the bitumen, I am only to happy to drop of. I get no rocks thrown up at me , but I make no guarantees I won't throw any up of the gravel shoulders.
That is why anyone the drives these roads regularly, does not stay on the middle of the road for on coming traffic. >:D

Common courtesy is both vehicles drop one wheel off each, so they don’t shower the other vehicle with rocks...I hate when oncoming vehicles drop both wheels off.

I with you, I drop the passenger side off than if room allows move across as much as possible but keeping the drivers side on the bitumen.....this encourages some to stay on the bitumen which means no risk coming my way.

It should be common courtesy, but some think it is their right to stay on the bitumen, so so be it.

But some people (usually the Roadtrain sized cars like Honda Jazz, Zook Swifts etc etc ) seem to feel they need all the road plus your side of the gravel... Never understood that.

any idea which route you are taking?...only ask as last year we did Sturt National Park from Cameron Corner then onto Tibooburra and Hungerford to look at Currawinya National Park...nice drive to Sturt Nat Park from Cameron Corner and a spectacular view a top the jump up there, drive from Tibooburra to Wanaaring was boring as bat Shit, but plenty to see around Currawinya (just ask the publican at Hungerford pub, he’s full of info).
