Why I've ordered a Corolla Cross hybrid for the missus to replace her 3 yr old Kia petrol shopping trolley and she might get it after Xmas. In any case with NVES starting Jan1 there's no way Toyota are selling it late this year when they'll want some plant food credits in the easy first year they can get for it.

Smart move by Elon to rollout the supercharger network to flog Teslas but there's no economic case for them long term as he would well know-

So he gave away Tesla's NACS charging protocol for free and now most of the carmakers are adopting it as a Standard. Ultimately all EV owners have to share a ubiquitous system and rely on taxpayer handouts to fund it. Consequently public charging will always lag EV sales with city congestion and severe shortcomings in remote and regional areas. Meanwhile Toyota San chuckle as the long order book keeps rolling in and they hybridise their complete range while the EV lossmakers scramble to do likewise to stay afloat.

That was never going to fly charging up the charger battery low and slow and letting EVs suck it dry high and fast in order to get around the awful cost of getting the required power there in the first place. Yeah and the energy grid is under pressure now, so how the fork does that work if you triple that power drain in the current climate of power supply?  ::)

Doesn't SA pull power from the "National" grid due to not having a reliable source of power supply?  ???

Just read an article about a Boss of Geely , a Chinese Auto . He used the rouse of attending a European Auto Salon to spirit his entire Family to the US, it is said his Company is 40 BILLION $ down the tube ! Big Manufactures like BYD and so are subsidized and will get bailed out , but the writing is on the wall for EV'S becoming the mainstay , one only has to read the latest pronouncements from MB,Vw,Toyota , GM and a host of others to see this . Albo stop subsidizing/Pouring Billion's of Taxpayer funds down this Sinkhole !

All this Smart technology, think about this.
They can switch you off in an eye blink to your electricity, your internet, your banking, your fuel supply.

Our government wants us to become reliant on Green electricity, renewables, because "It's environmentally friendly"
It's control.

I can’t imagine there will be the same level of excitement in 60 years for a 2025 Ford  E Mustang Mach-E as there is today for a 1965 Ford Shelby GT350 or any other classic Mustang.

With the new NVES rules coming into play next year all cars are getting dearer as ICE turns to hybrid to escape penalty taxing early on as we see here with  bread and butter transport like the Hyundai i30-
