G'day from Roma, Qld
« on: August 17, 2016, 10:53:23 AM »
G'day all,

Stumbled across this forum while looking for information on camper trailers.

Grew up in the bush NW of Camooweal but have been in Roma 5 years. The desire to educate our kids about the bush, Australian history and the outdoors in general has led to a recent want/need to get stuck into camping.

Complete noob to the camper trailer idea - spent months in swags in mustering camps with a cooking van and that's about it.

Looking forward to doing my research & hopefully snagging a camper trailer in the next 6-12 months. Thinking a hard floor might be the go.

Regards,
Dicko.

Thanks all, looking forward to doing my research and finding out all about it.

The trick will be looking at a few before I buy. Don't think I'll be able to get to many shows etc.

Will rely heavily on my Google foo and this forum. Pretty good at sifting through for good ideas & advice.

Been checking out the classifieds - there's a couple of neat tricks there alright!

Dicko.

Steve, I wasn't but I grew up next door at Alexandria.

My family has a long history with Rocklands though.

Indeed welcome.

Expecting to be in Roma on 29-30 September on our way to Longreach and Winton and then back again on 11 October on our way through to Toowoomba.

Was in Roma last year in June - where we bought two really good camp chairs from a store in the main street on special. And they were a bargain - bought one more when back in Canberra and it cost me $90 from Rays. Got 2 for $120 in Roma.

Still looking at where to park the Cub Camper - any recommendations. Don't require power.

Happy for you to come and have a look.

Cheers

G'day,

Yes they are a great shop and very good people, it was their trailer I borrowed initially and which cemented the idea for us.

That would be great please, let me know when you're in town.

I will keep my eyes open, only place I really know of is the Big Rig Park. There are plenty of places but a good way out of town.

Regards,
Dicko.

Thanks Dicko - was looking at the Big Rig park. $45 a night for 3 of us - unpowered nit cheap but it looks ok.

I'll get you to PM and we can exchange mobiles once I am on the road. Coming via Dubbo and Lightning Ridge.

Welcome Dicko...you don't happen to know a grumpy old local builder by the name of Alan that gets around town in an 80 series by chance do you?
