Not Quite. I have a 17.58.3  17.58 feet Number three layout meaning we have a shower and toilet. A 17.58.1 for example is 17.58 feet with the number 1 layout, it has children's bunks across the rear, no shower and toilet.

Body length is on its own and travel length is hitch to say spare tyre carrier or rear bar etc going by the spec sheets

So my number machine tells me that .58 of a foot = 6.96"

Can you measure 17' 6.96" from anywhere to anywhere ??? :D

I only know it represents the length of the body, no doubt front point to rear point. The hitch and rear bumper are not included. It will still be a 17.58.3 whether it has an extended drawbar or not. There is a 17.55.8 and 17.55.9 Both 17.55 feet, the 8 is a queen bed and the 9 is 2 single beds.

Banjo has it nailed, your 17.58.3 means it is a 17ft van or 5.8metres and no 3'layout.
Probably should be called a 17.57.3 as 17ft equals 5.7metres but then it could be a 17ft 4" van
Mine is a 12.37.3 so again should be a 12ft 4"

The WA dealer told me the same as posted above: first is body length in feet, second is meters, third is layout and followed by OB if the Outback version.
Mine is a 20.62-2 OB. Well 20ft is 6.1 meters by my maths - but the brochure for my model states the length is 6.432 meters. The latter probably includes the spare wheel on the back. My previous Jayco van had 52.59.3 0B on the VIN plate and 16.52-3 on the sales docket. When I queried that was told there was no such model as etched on the VIN plate.
While it is not a big deal one wonders why they persist with what appears a vague ID system that seems to create more confusion than its worth.
