G'Day from Central Australia
« on: November 12, 2012, 04:20:43 AM »
Hi. Just to introduce myself, my names Greg and my family and I have been camping, four wheel driving and touring for many years. We came to Alice Springs about 28 years ago.
We started out in swags, enjoying the many sites around Alice. I built an offroad box trailer to fit a Cameron Canvas camper to, about 20 years ago. That served us very well and travelled many miles with the family, trips up the Tanami, to Broome, Kimberley's, all round the Territory. After 10 or 12 years I sold the camper and kept the trailer (still got it).
I then bought  a Jayco Outback Eagle in about 2006. Trips in that included The Great Ocean Road, The Pilbara, southern WA and many up and down to Darwin and Eyre Peninsula. I sold that about 2 years ago and with the family thinning out, went for an Oztent. Back to basics.
Meanwhile I've been looking around for something with more Offroad capability than the Jayco. Visited many caravan shows and looked at all sorts including Vista RV, TVans, hard floors.
After much research and many changes of mind, we finally settled on a Kimberley Kamper Limited Edition. Placed an order last month with delivery scheduled for December. Hopefully a nice Christmas present for ourselves.
Sites like MySwag have been helpful with research and ideas.
So, it's swags, Oztent, Kimberley Kamper and the occasional motel for the next few years. Still plenty of country to see yet.
Cheers
Greg

Welcome Greg

We have also purchased a KK and we are picking it up this week. Same as you were looking for that off road ability.

Welcome Greg.  You have done heaps, but as you say, there is so much to see.  And a lot of places you can go back to and spend more time. Like the Red Centre  :cup:
