By the look of it , it can take up to a month between the time it takes from the first trickle coming through and it being deep enough to require the Ferry service ?

We were there many years ago when the ferry was running.
The line of cars waiting was long, I counted them, over 70.
As the ferry only runs during day light hours and it takes 30minutes to go across, it will take a few days to clear the line.
Lucky for us we were only there to see it all happening.

Im hoping that if i get up there early that the rodents wont of had enough time to multiply  . Also was told its worse when the water recedes, they are starting to starve by then ! .

That's the bugbear with composite panel construction as the wiring is fixed into it during construction as you can see here-
https://www.caravancampingsales.com.au/editorial/details/how-to-build-a-composite-caravan-115904/
Why they try and keep the max wiring running underneath or through the cupboards.
You might like to email Avan in particular about that but I suspect they'll confirm you're stuck with an external panel rewire now-

I recall we were sitting around the fire and the kids were cooking damper and rats

Duncan, I don't mind roughing it and I quite enjoy a bit of bush tucker from time to time but really? Mate if things are that bad I will try to organise a whip round. Depending on how much we get the kids should be able to get some sauce at least. Maybe even upgrade to sausages.  ;D

Yes, I stayed there when the ferry worked last time. On the northern side. A great experience. However be aware if the conditions are right there may be heaps of rats at night. I recall we were sitting around the fire and the kids were cooking damper and rats came from everywhere Around the fire. Pretty amazing. luckily we didn’t end up with any chewed wires in the vehicle.

General Discussion / Winguard coax cable fault, requires replacement.

Evening people. I have a particular issue that I am hoping someone may be able to provide advise on.

On my Avan pop top (composite panel construct) the coax from the antenna to the van has broken off at the level where it enters the roof level with the top of the rubber boot that seal the entry point. I note that the cable has an inline joiner behind the microwave before the cable again enters the wall panel to go to the distribution point behind the tv.

So does anybody have any experience/ideas as to how to replace the broken section? Is it modded into the roof section at manufacture or is there some kind of void/conduit that will allow the old cable to be removed and the new one pulled through?

Which ever it is it will be fun to repair, not. Ta in advance.

It's crazy. Same for hipcamps etc. At those prices I want a fire to cook on
I'd expect dinner cooked and served...
