I think part of the problem there, is that there has been, particularly in these last couple of years, a lot of people moved from the City to the outer suburbs / country areas, & they just aren't aware of the risks ???
Fizzie,
During & post Covid, a lot of people moved to the  Clarence Valley, Richmond Valley, Tweed Valley and the floods earlier in the year caught many out, even long time locals, but the time given with warnings, is a hot debated subject atm.

Can someone please explain to me, why Diesel is nearly 30c a Litre dearer than most forms of unleaded petrol in the Clarence Valley ATM?
Not just the Clarence Valley, but state wide.
I don't know what prices are in other states.

If only we knew, its costing me over $1000 a month to get to work at the moment. Might have to buy a solar car

It's a concern, I know tradies that will not travel any more than 30 odd km's from home, I'm questioning if I really need to travel, for a one off job.
Ok, so I raise my rates to cover this, as will everyone that uses fuel.
What I don't understand, a couple of years back, we were told our pump price was a direct result of the cost of production and it was linked to Singapore/Malaysia, now it's a direct effect from a war in the Ukraine?

When the excise was halved diesel dropped to around $2.05, which was the same as petrol. The excise was reinstated diesel jumped to around $2.25, petrol did as well, but over the weekend petrol has dropped, diesel has risen a small amount.
I just don't get it.

Yep... probably wouldn't walk around alone at night though, just like you wouldn't in countless other areas of Australia in any state.
4.2L TD Toyota Troopy, (Clarke's Country Camper Trailer, softfloor.) sold it and bought a Avan Ray small poptop caravan.

Hi
There are quite a few towns I wouldn't stop in overnight, especially when the local CP advertises security fencing as an asset or local shops are built like a Führen bunker without windows and doors that would look fine at Alcatraz.
Cheers

Ok, One for those that have worked in the Carpet/floor covering industry.
After 20 or so years, the carpets in the bedrooms need replacing, we have polished Timber & Slate throughout the rest of the home.
The carpet has seen better days and looks worn out, old.
We have approached one local carpet retailer, whom we bought from all those years ago.
They send out a bloke who measured each room, 4 in total, roughly 3x4 each.
Each has Tassie Oak Colonial 68x12 architraves, Skirting.
When first had the rooms layer with carpet, the Skirting was fixed.
I lifted it up 18mm as that what the then layers wanted.
We have been told the Skirting needs to be removed, ???
I've worked in the cottage industry for nearly 35 years and have never heard of the carpet layers wanting the Skirting removed.
New homes, the Skirting is fixed before painting, carpet is laid at near the end of construction
So why would they need it removed?
Cheers.

Never had that asked of me before, skirts always on with final coat left as the layers always mark or rub the skirting. Maybe try another store if its too hard for them

That's what I'm thinking,
 of doing, contacting another supplier.
I just pulled up the carpet in one room, the Skirting is only just touching the carpet, smooth edge is about 6mm under the Skirting and the skirting is about 8-9mm above the ply with nails.
I can't see a problem, looks the same as new house before the carpet is layed.
Cheers

A NSW man has made a “bloody expensive mistake”, pouring 230 litres of fuel that should have gone into his tank somewhere else.

I contacted the mob that installed our carpet all those years ago to ask the question.
Their reply was No, they have never asked to have the Skirting removed.
They will be here next week to measure up.
Cheers.
