Not what you asked but have you looked at a Hyland?

No plastic to break
No pins to drop/lose
No poly to fatigue
No needle roller bearings
Waterproof
Mudproof
Bombproof
Uses a 50mm ball

What does it need to fit?

Mate a swan, but I only have 50mm to play with as its is in the garage anything bigger than that standard alko ball hitch and I won't be able to close garage door!

Know that feeling, ours fits with about 15mm left, and spare tyre flush against garage wall. It's the reason we went for wing1 instead of 3 which is the equivalent of your swan. Good luck, should be all good as I used the manufacturer's specs when checking the length and they were for a standard 50mm ball.

I've just purchased the OzHitch conversion kit to retro-fit to the Treg hitch on the Heaslip.

I know it isn't relevant to your particular 'length' issue, but another plus for me is that the OzHitch 'receiver' is flat, and can therefore act as a 'step' when loading the roof rack.

Swannie, I have the older DO35 and just measured it. From the centre of the front bolt holes to the front of the hitch is 150mm. The newer ones with the poly block look a little longer. Hope this helps.

Old threat, but I thought it worthwhile sharing why I switched from a McHitch to a Hitch Ezy
