13yr old son went to make porridge in the thermomix the other day. Put it all together, poured in the oats, poured in the milk, then realised he had left the bottom (blades) out of the bowl  >:(

milk all through mechanism and leaking out the bottom

left it to dry for a couple of days, turned it on and all good, but he is now a bit gunshy

I let SWMBO buy one of the cheapie knock off thermo machines because I couldn't justify the price tag. This one was $200 on special. Man it cooks some good food.

Bugger paying 2 grand for something that blows up. Users beware .

A number of Thermomix users have come forward with tales of their appliance exploding causing them serious burns

Another two mothers describe their horror after their Thermomix blenders exploded - leaving one with third-degree burns

We have one and I'm surprised it isn't worn out. Gets used very heavily, often multiple times a day. Personally I avoid anything to do with ours but on the positive side it  has certainly got our kids into cooking.

Our thermomix gets an occasional workout but recently I have noticed that the blades are getting harder and harder to spin. I'm worried that this will overload the motor.

Does anyone know if they can be disassembled and repaired?

Do you mean remove the blades from the mixing bowl

Nope. taking the blade assembly to pieces. Actually I'm just trying to free up the spinning as it is really tight. Can only just get it to turn using fingers (while it is out of the bowl).

Not too sure on that one, maybe send them an email asking for help, they are quick at replying

I'd contact Thermomix, even if it's a decent amount outside of warranty, and mention Australian Consumer Law. I think they might go above and beyond at the moment after just copping a 4.6milion dollar fine for "for making false or misleading representations and misleading the public"
If they don't come to the party I would think the ACCC would say a $2000 kitchen appliance should last a lot more than the 2yr warranty they come with and after just slapping them with a massive fine I think they would more than likely happily inform Thermomix that they need to repair it under the Australian consumer law, even up to 2-3 years out of warranty given the purchase price. I'd probably neglect to tell them that you have pulled it apart though.

Missus uses ours daily, often 2-3 times. Even the 9yo made chocolate fudge in it today while the missus was at work! Nothing like putting all the ingredients for spag bol (pasta/sauce/mince) in at the same time and having it ready in 15mins without touching a thing - no mixing sauce, boiling water etc. Sounds like a wank but when the missus is trying to do a million things for 3 kids in the arvo, that 30mins saved is a lifesaver!!!

Ours still working very hard.
Easy day today, had to finely dice 2 large onions.
2 seconds on turbo.
Done.
No tears.
