Which Security System
« on: March 08, 2018, 07:31:40 PM »
Well with all the crap that's happening around Melbourne now with our "non-existent African Gangs" we are looking at getting a good security system installed, preferable with a "hot button" that can alert police, and everybody else within about 500 metres
My preferred system would be a loaded sawn off shotty beside the bed
Like to hear your thoughts on various systems, good and bad, what to look out for etc.
spending the kids inheritance as fast as I can

We've got a really good guy who's down your way, Keith... Done a few systems for my family, and we're all happy with his systems

All good. The Sudanese Juveniles down here seem to think they can take anything they want, and no-one will do anything serious about it.

Yeah I have heard the stories........the pricks are running amuck in Toowoomba as well.  Too much of a cultural difference I think. Nothing good is going to happen from that imigration scheme.

We in Australia are denied one of the basic human rights.
Right to defend ourselves with whatever we have close by. Steel rods, baseball bats, shovel handles, hunting guns ...

If a gang of thugs breaks in to someone's house, armed up and with the intent of harming occupants and cause serious harm and trauma to our children and family - then it is a basic human right to defend ourselves and our family. We are denied that right. Why and how we allowed this to happen?

Loaded gun next to the bed is the best cure for those low life scumbags. Fact is we are that much brainwashed by all those "do gooders" that nobody is even willing to say this out loud because they will automatically be branded as an "extremist" or similar ...

We are sheep, nothing else ........ until someone finally does the right thing and sends "the right message" to one or two of those thugs, no matter what colour is their skin. I would like to see jury which will found such person guilty for defending his own family and children.

Ok, lets get back to the OP's problem pls.

And I don't think he wants to turn his house into a fortress either.

Ness is the brand most people use. If you have a monitored alarm, it will go to a control room. Control room will act on your preset conditions i.e. alarm fires, they will call you and tell you if somebody is in the house or not, then ask what you want to do, if the duress/panic fires they'll send a patrol. They don't automatically call the police from the control room.

That said most of the burgs I know of late have had alarms and the offenders don't care. They go through the front door and look for keys/cash/computers and are out and gone in under 5-10 mins with the alarm still sounding.

As for cameras, offenders wear hoodies/caps so footage is not as useful. More useful for checking for odd cars in the street etc. leading up to the burg.

As for home invasion, that's a totally different story. Make sure your physical security is strong, have an exit strategy depending on where they're entering from, keep your keys/wallet/phone including spare hidden or close to you so you can grab on exit. Don't engage as you have no idea how many are waiting outside. Sh!t can be replaced lives can't. Also have a remote duress button on your keys you can hit if required. Our alarm is wireless on/off and the key fob has a panic button.

If you are going to spend on camera's, I suggest you buy the very best highest definition you can get in day / night types  with sound  ..
Dark grainy fuzzy CCTV footage isnt worth Shite and a waste of money ..
SHD with sound can at least show some detail and might,  I say might help show or record  something that will help identify .
For defensive .. Powerful Strobes mixed with debilitating pulsed sound at entry points and a safe room or exit point .
It all comes down to $$$ that you want to spend to make you feel safe .
Or pack up sell up and go traveling .

Steer clear of Swan gear...

and as said spend money on good cameras... got a mate who worked in the higher end security and says that most people balk at the price of good cameras - but its their choice. also get them that work in the darker conditions.. also get some sensor lights - they help with ID.
