Universal Remote Controls ?
« on: June 15, 2017, 10:25:03 AM »
The remote for our tv is on the way out  :'( , there is a separate control for the recorder/dvd player thing, and another for the little Kodi box. I think I can get a single universal remote that I can use to control all 3 things and get rid of the old remotes.  ???
Prices seem to go from $10-00 to $300-00  :o
So my questions are:-
1/ How much do you need to spend for a basic set up that WORKS
2/ How hard are they to set up
3/ I don't have much hair now , how much will I loose trying to set 1 of these up
4/ Recommended brands, I've always found "Logitech" stuff pretty good

cheers Keith

Been using harmony remotes for about 7 years, i have 4 different models for different devices and find them invaluable for multi device AV setups.
One button press for each activity is a breeze, mine are older models but control 4 devices and 6 different activities.

Harmony 650 works fine, to program you have to know what TV/Box/Stereo etc you have, connect the harmony to your computer and download the software from harmony site. Easy, the only problem I have is it is a bit hungry for batteries but we have heaps of rechargeable batteries for all our other remotes.

The universal remote control will cost you several packets of lollies and biscuits and some cordial each month to operate /.. NOTE :  may or may  not work so good  during school hours though .. ;D ;D
