Title: Hospital equipment within the hospital.
Post by: corndog on September 12, 2019, 06:54:07 PM
Now we got vital hospital equipment not working properly or up to 2 years past its use by date closing hospital services. Let's  blame the government. Why not blame the hospitals. Is it up to the government  to monitor every piece of equipment in every hospitals, or the hospital and its own equipment. The opposition thinks it's the governments problem, of course. What you think.

Most of it is State Government due to how the funding occurs. You will find that hospital staff have usually been requesting replacement equipment for years without any funding being made available. Most hospital budgets do not allow for major capital equipment purchases and instead rely upon capital equipment grants from the State.

The last mid level management public hospital position I had, my budget was reduced 2% pa each year.

What plusnq said. Every year it's battle to see what can be extended and try and seek funding to replace end of life equipment. Very little capital funding provided that isn't tied to a specific project, so bread and butter stuff can be a struggle.
