Kinetic Log Splitters

Hi folks
Has anyone used a kinetic log splitter? Im thinking of getting a Forestwest 15T splitter. The online reviews are positive, but I take them with a pinch of salt. Anyone using one long term? Im interested in its longevity and performance on our hardwoods. It will be used on jarrah here in the west, but I know you have some real hard woods too over east.

Hi Glen,
I've often thought about getting a splitter, didn't have the coin for a good one, wasn't prepated to buy one I didn't know anything about, so I decided I was better off paying a local bloke to deliver & stack the wood for me.
130 bucks worth will last us all winter.
It's dry, solid and burns real good.
Now, it might be more cost effective for you to buy a splitter, sorry I can't give you any advice on that brand.

Glen, whatever model you buy make sure it has a block lifter to save your back lifting those billets from the ground.

Alternatively i got one where you can flip the splitter to vertical as i found the ones with lifters were generally very $$$$. not as easy agreed, but can still shimmy bits under with a lever and break into 2 or 3 bits prior to lifting to finish. I got a 30t version and are yet to find a bit it won't split, including multiple knots in hard woods. Mines hydraulic though so seems slower to a kinetic, but after a few hours splitting and vaguing out/ few beers, mine moves plenty fast enough for me and i only take the ram as far as is required for the logs im spitting. the video on the site looks good, but timber looks to not be either that hard or fibrous like the bluegum im splitting.

I second the Redgum Splitter as I've had mine for around 3 years now and I target a lot of knotty Jarrah from the bush and it hasn't failed once and being able to use it vertical or horizontally is great on larger logs.
