Re submarines -
Stumbled across the history of Jaycar founder Gary Johnston in one of their catelogues about the same time the submarine aquisition was first annouced (similar speil here - https://www.unwraplfra.com.au/gary-johnston-and-jaycars-journey/

Because I read it at same time as the submarines became topical I then found out a bit more about "Submarines for Australia", including this report submitted to a parlimentry defence inquirey https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&ved=2ahUKEwiU192gmeH9AhUzg2MGHWrUD4UQFnoECBIQAQ&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.aph.gov.au%2FDocumentStore.ashx%3Fid%3D6b227ea6-b810-4bb9-956c-96a92ada3869%26subId%3D564438&usg=AOvVaw1iEhgrHzzyHtuILECXyYCy

This also gives a shorter summary of Gary's opinion https://johnmenadue.com/vale-gary-johnston-founder-and-sponsor-of-the-submarines-for-australia-group/

He also had an extinct koala named after him
Quote
This is the second Litokoala species named from the Riversleigh World Heritage Area. The first species was named Litokoala garyjohnstoni  in 2007, to honour philanthropist, Gary Johnston, CEO of Jaycar Ltd, who donated $1 million to UNSW to create Australia’s first Chair of Water Management.  The name was chosen by Dr Louys, Dr Black, Professor Michael Archer, Associate Professor Sue Hand and Mr Henk Godthelp.

Very interesting read Brig. The decision process of our esteemed leaders leaves a whole lot to be desired. And that there is the sole reason I cannot trust our government to build the best possible and safest nuclear power stations. Their prior record in infrastructure projects kinda back up my argument.

Just watching DCA & saw this one: https://youtu.be/eTga-2uGQXI?t=959

Apparently passing a B-Double & coming up on what looks like a semi with 2 dogs, while towing a van that size ??? :o ::) >:(

You'd need about 3k of straight road & perfect visibility to pass those two!

If you set yourself up an Oz Post account, you can have mail or packages sent to a nominated branch for collection I believe

Bloke at work swears by his snow blow gig on his Karcher.. It just looks like it spreads soap on the car like a $20 garden sprayer.

Anyone got one or use one? Thoughts?

from what I read so far its a 'pre wash'... so you spray it on it looks all pretty, then you still have to wash the car... Im lost at why you'd buy one.

im impressed by this guys wax on the car... water just pisses off it!  called  P&S Beadmaker.

you spray it on then let it sit for 5 to 10 mins during which time it llifts the dirt away from the surface of the car then hose it off
dont wipe or rub it becauseit will scratch the finish
i use the repco hyper foam which comes in a bottle that clips onto a garden hose so if i cant be stuffed getting the pressure washer out
if i use the  pressure washer i just use it on low

So since my gran-pappy asked me to get one.... I walked into autobarn, and looked at the 4 on offer.
Bowdens Mothers, Something else, and Meguiars...
All bout 100-110....

So asked the bloke who no doubt was going to say - "I have one of these at home....." - and it was first thing out of his mouth.
I asked few things about it, I said to wash the Patrol on, he also had a patrol apparently.

Next question - how much... He walked away, came back, $110 down to $45 for meguiars 69 for Bowdens..... Sold
Will see how it goes

Searious question,
With the push to change the name of places to Aboriginal names, will this also include Native Animal and fauna names?

Interesting question ???

If they ever did, though, surely a "kangaroo" would have 00s of different names, as every dialect would have their own name for it ???

Well they did everywhere else in the world. For example in Germany they call a Hippo a Nilpferd....

That's what I'm thinking.
Here, on The Clarence River, there are 3 different peoples that have, what we know as The Clarence River, but each have  a different name, depending on where they are along it's lenght.
So, they would all have a different dielect, therefore animals, trees, land features would all have different names also. ????

Nah, in Germany if you taught them to speak English instead of German, they wouldn't understand all the road signs, shop signs, and the labels on the zoo enclosures...

I don't understand why you need to speak the different dialects in each place you go... Why not just call it a kangaroo.. most Aussies still speak Australian English...

Same with Kosciuszko. There's a push to give it a native name, but there are 7 (?) tribes surrounding that area who all lay claim to it, all want "their" name, & are deeply offended by suggestions for other names ???

That'd look good on a map: "Mt Kosciuszko / A...... / B.... / C............ / D..... / E ....... / F.. / G.........." ::) >:D

ok ok ... pushy arent ya.

Well gave it a go today, first time nerves, soaped the **** out of sons old commodore, but need to work on the mixture I think.. few things to learn/try.

The car has been sittin for 2-3 months under trees, so there was a lot of Shit on there, and ... still is.

And it really did soap/snow up well instantly... actually before i was ready :'(  ;D

Lots of dirt and Shit flowing off the car after few mins so that did ok..

Did 150ml of Bowdens Snow Shit, to 850ml of fairly hot water in the bottle - not boiling.. Soaped the whole car used about 100-200ml out of the bottle...Surprised me really, thought it would empty.

The surface dirt has gone, but its still dirty once it started drying.

Reading del97td's post now, I probably didn't leave it long enough as I feel this job does need wiping down.

Weather looks Shit on weekend again, so will try again if we get a break in the weather.

Yes Keithy you can borrow it to try it out.
