My Introduction
« on: November 17, 2014, 08:04:40 PM »
Hi All,

Thought it was time to introduce myself.  I have recently upgraded from tents and purchased a 2007 Johnno's premier light offroad from a forum member. My tow rig is a decked out Volkswagen Amarok.

So far the family and I  have been up to Tocumwal to a caravan park on Melb cup weekend for a shake down run. All went well.

Mods so far. The camper has been well looked after, I have rewired most of the electrics adding a fuse box, resettable circuit breakers grommets for all cable entries.and some heavier gauge cabling back to the Amarok.  I have permanently mounted some led light strips to the inside of the tent with the switch near the bed.and replaced the 2 x 97ah batteries that were on their last legs.

I have a 160w solar setup and 100ah battery in the Amarok with all batteries being powered by a traxide SC80 when hooked up.  I have also added a weld on tow hitch receiver to the rear for the bikes.

My ball weight is a tad on the heavy side at 90kg with water in the front tank and jerry, I will soon be adding an under trailer water tank just rear of the axle.

We are heading to the High country this Friday for 3 days staying at Bindaree Hut so that should be a good test.

Thanks goes to all those that have helped me already without even knowing it just by contributing to the forum.

Cheers,

Barrel.

Howdy Barrel and welcome to myswag. Tocumwal and Bindaree Hut. You've started with some great places. Enjoy the ride and feel free to join any of the myswag trips over the future. We do bite, but that's half the fun:-)

Thanks for all of the warm welcomes guys, very much appreciated.

The bad news is my 3 day trip to the high country has been postponed for a week but the good news is I am making it a 4 day trip starting next Thursday.

Then on the Monday, the trailer goes in for some surgery.  The 4 leaf slipper springs will be replaced by 9 leaf eye to eye and the al-ko ball hitch will be replaced by a Hyland.

Setting it up like a 2014 Johnno's off roader.

Together with the already installed beefier axle and electric brakes, I am hoping to have the compliance plate updated to match.  It should then go where me Amarok can go.

Just back in from our high country trip and glad to report that all went well. We set up at Bindaree Hut (Had the place to ourselves) and did day trips from there.  We had a great weekend. Hopefully the first of many to come.
