Hello happy campers
Another first poster. Don’t have a camper and had no intention of buying one or camping till a month ago. However since every day became a public holiday (Retired 2 years ago) I have been attending a few events that aren’t anywhere near hotels and motels so started looking at alternatives.
Too old to throw a swag on the ground and be able to get up the next day so caravan was the next thought bubble but though I have towed a few around over the years, have never been comfortable with them so scratched that idea.
Was wandering back from Shute harbour and came up behind a trailer called a Kimberly Kamper so looked them up on the internetty thingy and so began the interest in camper trailers.
Have a 2013 Navara Blackline V6 twincab so can to almost anything. Will hire a trailer or two to find out what I need, wife is not interested so will go solo.
Forum is great for ideas.

Welcome to myswag.  A KK is a premium rig for just one.  Good idea to hire one first.  Hope you can get your wife interested as she is missing so much.

Happy camping

Welcome Bazt,

Hiring different types of CT's is the way to go, its the ease in erecting each type of CT that will make up your decision if you are going it alone.
Good luck and enjoy the camping,

Rob

As was my plan mentioned above, I hired a CT from the Whitsundays for a few days at an event in the Cathu State forrest area.
Had a trial run at home erecting every thing and then disassembling.
Got it right eventually, it was a MDC brand  offroad CT, was simple when you know how.
Got to the site early to get a level area and slowly got everything up and ready to live in. To many different camp ideas were being set up to concentrate on mine so it took a while.
Really enjoyed the 3 days camping and look forward to hiring again to make sure I want to spend money buying one.
Some things I noted for the future.
The site I was at had hot showers and toilets but will need to look into these if I buy.
Need some form of mud/dirt control system to stop walking mun into the camp. The weather changed from hot to wet (2 hours of heavy rain) to windy to hot again with heavy dew over night.
Wife still not interested - Oh the serenity  ;D

Welcome to the forum Bazt. If you get a rush of enthusiasm to go and buy yor own CT I noticed an Aussie Swag at what seems to be a very good price - within your budget, see link below.

Good luck with your choice.
Hope the missus comes to like camping soon.
She might prefer a Hard roofed, Hard walled, Hard floored Camper.
Have you asked her yet?
Some people (Women) call accommodation of less than 4 star, roughing it.
Sometimes you can find an exception, they're worth finding.

Hi Bazt,
Im thinking youre not overly concerned about the wifes lack of interest :-) I hear you. I just got a Jayco. Previously had a viscount pop top.  A bit concerned that hubby said he might try it out too. Usually just me and the girl dog. He stays home with the boy dog.
