Accommodation at the Lions Den
« on: February 26, 2012, 06:32:04 PM »

I have made contact with Faith at the Lions Den.

I have negotiated a deal for camping there. Powered sites $23 per night for 2 people while unpowered sites are $8 per adult and $5 per child (under 6 years old are free). The problem is there are only 9 powered sites so I will speak to her regarding if we can hook up as many members who require power and see if we can share the cost.

With up powered sites they do not take bookings but 2 weeks before we arrive I will advise exact numbers to them and they will allocate a section for us.

Regarding meals they are served between 6.00 to 7.30 pm and as you can imagine if we all ordered at once it would be a nightmare. The other option is their home made pizzas available any time which may be the best option as it will save costs and this will be the only place where you can get pizzas at the Cape apart from Weipa.

They offered a possibility of a buffet for the group ( ie a roast beef and salad ) which we can arrange atsite time to eat. The decision is what everyone will feel like that day but I will come back to this further down the track with prices.

On arrival you will go to the bar and pay for your site.

To be continued.....

We ate there last year with SteveandViv and had a top feed. It was a great night with several beers washing the dust away.

Update

Hi Mark,
Just letting you know there will be 8 powered sites available over the 23rd-24th June as we already have one booked out. I have pencilled out all the remaining sites for use by your group. As I mentioned on the phone I will set aside a portion of the property for your group just to ensure you all have enough space and this will be pretty close to the powered sites. Would be great if you could confirm numbers a week or so prior and of course feel free to discuss the dinner options and get back to me or my husband Max and we’ll try to work around you. Hope this helps, talks soon,
Kind regards

Faith Nulley

As there are only 8 powered sites and we will be there for 2 nights alot of people will need power so this is the best way.

I need 8 parties who would like power for now:
McGirr
Blackcat
jclures
smartway
JK
Geoffa
Disco1
Bert

We now have the 8 sites allocated and will email Lions Den the names.

I will make sure all members have access to power. We may be running a number of extension leads and will make sure Symon approves the safety aspect  ;D

We do not have to book the unpowered sites.

I cannot see any problem with generators as we will have a big area.

I definitely won't need a powered site, but if I park the 'cruiser close to one other people can plug into it.  So in effect you will end up with 11 powered sites.  ;D

Thats not it at all. I just thought that those with swags may like their beer cold and I wouldn't want them to have to go and drink yours. But I will.

Update

Just received from the Lions Den:

Hi Mark – Thanks for the details, we’ll fill the booking register in accordingly.

There’s no need for them to pay a deposit as you’re an organised tour.

Once again, if you could give us an indication of final numbers closer to the date, that would be appreciated, particularly if you’d like to organise a group dinner.

Cheers

The following names were given.

Tim Hutchison   Sharon Hutchison  Ryan Hutchison

Heb Greenough

Doug Collett  John Collett

Mauri Gill

Mick Taylor  John Kuhnemann

Jo, Gordon, Daniel and Meaghan hart

Geoff and Kaylene Ayres

Mark McGirr
