New - Just ordered a Cub
« on: August 30, 2013, 08:20:35 PM »
Greetings,

Pretty sure I have trolled just about every topic on this site with mention of a Cub prior to putting some hard earned down on a one last week at he Melb 4x4 show.

I was considering one of a couple of second hand Cubs for sale until I decided I wanted it built my way. Took the wife and kids along and they helped me decide on Supermatic Escape Offroad.

Added some extras to get me started including;

Tropical Roof Kit
Drivers Side additional door on tent
Regal Kitchen Deluxe-Outside 2 burner & Grill
Stainless Steel Pantry
16in Wheel & Tyres to match the Hilux
Electric Brakes - Off Road
Extra 4 kg Gas Bottle incl Holder
Extra Jerry Can Holder
Stone Stopper Mud Flaps
Innerspring Mat upgrade
Locker Door-Drivers Side
Independent Suspension
Locking Water Filler
80 Litre Water Tank
Awning Extended Deluxe

Decided that I would add my own electrics and bits and bobs after I get it. Would have liked Gal but cant have everything I suppose  ;D

So anyway that its for the minute. The wait will just about do me in but I'm sure it will be worth it. In the mean time I will research the brake controller to have fitted up . Thinking Redarc but will look into the new Hayman Reese.

As mentioned I have read up most things on this awesome site to when researching but always willing to listen to advice from other CT owners.

Cheers

Wisey

Congratulations on the new cub ozmoose. You can't go wrong with a cub. Now you just have to hurry up and wait. Check out a few of the other CT builds to get some ideas for your electricals. Good luck.

Thanks for the welcome.

Ray, I have read yours and Snowy's builds with interest. Between the two of you I now have a list of mods to do as long as my arm and I haven't even got it yet  ;D

Just the standard chassis, painted steel. It will require some more vigilant cleaning and maintenance but shouldn't be too bad.
Tropical roof is fancy Cub speak for a canvas fly over the top for extra protection and insulation.

How much extra was the Galvanising??

and I meant the floor, underneath I ordered a gal floor to protect the wood floor.

a locking water tank may seem silly, but apparetly up north its necessary.

Gal cchassis would still get stone chips and eventally rust too.. but If you put the cub on car stands every year, clean the chasis and paint it, you will be better off..

yes every twelve months, a quick wire brush and painting, will save a lot of work and stop the rust. If you leave it, then u will create a huge job..

and yo can change the colour if u like too. Use a good quality paint..

Nice buy. Enjoy when you get it!

I searched for "snow cave" and it came up. i'm sure there is a more efficient way but it works......

It would be great to have links to peoples builds in their profile. I have spent hours trawling through Cub builds such as Snowy's and Ray's. So many good ideas. I love it!
