Simmo TRIP CANCELLED
« on: June 01, 2014, 07:24:55 PM »
Ok swaggers,

It is with regret that I advise that I have cancelled this trip in its current format.

I always wanted a bare minimum of 5 crews going on this trip to make it an official Myswag trip./

For those of you who have been on a Myswag trip before you will agree its the myswag family that makes the trip as much as the destination. It was always my intention to combine this fantastic family with a fantastic location the Simpson desert.

with so many other great trips planned and the normall day to day things we all experience the numbers are just not there this time in 2014  so the trip is going to be put on the backburner, I am more than happy for anyone who wants to take it over for this year to jump at it. :D

With only 3 starters it seems a little over the top to have a fully fledged trip.

My sincerest apologies to DannyG,  Marcus, pete and Jo.   But I am pretty sure you guys know where to find each other to continue on if you both decide to ..  ;D ;D

Thanks to all who have contributed to the thread and I am sure we can salvage the thread as a base for future plans .

Kind regards to all and many thanks

Jet ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

No need to apologise mate I understand and we still may put a trip together, let's see what the next week or so bring.
I blame Marcus, everything was ok until he decided to come ;D

As long as we can get back to Tas on the boat, we're still keen

That's a shame.......I have been following  the thread and it looked a cracka of a trip. No reason you cannot still go.

Well as it turns out this trip was never meant to be. I thought that before we say let's do it anyway, I'd better check on some of the finer details and as it turns out we couldn't get on the boat to get home. Bugger!!!!

Evening all
I would have to say i'm not surprised. There has have been so little activity on the main thread over the last 3 months that i guessed that maybe it was going no where.

Regardless Jo and I will be on the road early Aug.  We only have one commitment and that is we need to be in Singapore by the 7th of September. So. lets re-think the route over the next week or so and see what we can come up with. We would value your input.

We will be leaving from Brisbane and welcome anyone who wants to tag along and would love to hear form anyone interested in a month on the road.

Pete an Jo

I'm sorry for my late reply but I have been off line for a while. :-[

If things change then we would be starters.

Once again apologies

Hi Guys,

we are heading across on the 24th of June. Arriving in Birdsville on the 23rd from the Flinders Ranges.

Not sure if this fits with anyone else itinerary as ours is pretty tight as we are heading up to the Kimberly's after that.

Regards

Hi Camj.
We are interested. Could you put up your intended route. There may be other's that may want to join in.

I would like to do it around then, but from West to East as its not as hard on the vehicle due to the wind erosion on the dunes.

Hi Pete and Jo,

the route I'm taking is the easiest one possible after seeking advise when we arrive at birdsville on the 23rd June

At the moment we are heading off at day break on the 24th of June from Birdsville on the QAA Line to Poeppel corner and the French line to Dalhousie Springs. Then heading to Mount Dare to stock up and follow advise from Dave at Mt Dare to Alice Springs. I expect it to take 3 days, maybe 4, then camp a night at Dalhousie Springs.

We are leaving Arkaroola in the Flinders ranges on the 23rd for the drive to Birdsville.

Agree Trevor West to East I'd prefer but am doing the East side of the Flinders from Yunta (Haven't done that side) and wish to do the Birdsville Track (done Oondatta)
