Off-road family caravan
« on: January 09, 2017, 05:14:22 PM »
Hey guys (gender neutral) thinking of upgrading from our lifestyle camper to a van or something, was looking at a lifestyle breakaway 2 plus 2 or jayco swan style van, I like the breakaway more then the jayco but I was wondering if there were any other good contenders for around the 30k mark

You'll be paying a fair bit more than the door price to make either of them family ready. $35k might be getting closer to a drive away price.

Breakaway so much better than jayco for real off-roading. After researching for a year the lifestyle range suited our needs the best, and we've ordered the At12NB.  Our plan b (budget implications) was the breakaway 2 plus 2. Others shortlisted were an MDC - looked nice but reviews we seen are mixed, or ModCon camper trailer.

Not a new one.  Heaps of used vans for that price.  If you are on FB, check out the Lemon Vans & RV page.  Lots of sad sacks and bleeding hearts but a good site for research.

Advice from a Jayco salesman, the caravan my survive the corrugations but the cabinetry will not is what he told us. That is why true off road caravans/campers have such a large price tag.

Theres no end of Jayco's been taken to the cape and Done the gibb etc. that tale is old news. Drive to the conditions. We owned an 2006 expanda that had done the lap twice and was going again after we sold her!

Yes the over the top off road vans are better but not necessarily for everyone.
Here for a good time, not a long time!

Hey I am only saying exactly what the actual Jayco rep said. Bar the inside cooking I think the Jayco's layout are great and would have been top of our list until he told us that.
Maybe he should have had more confidence in the product.

There are some serious bargains to be had in the used market...
Plenty buy em use em once and leave them in the driveway as a trophy for years, then decided to sell for a great buyers price....
Then there are others that try and recoup their actual original purchase price and never move em on..
