The Random Question of the Day Thread...
« on: February 05, 2015, 08:36:41 PM »
I thought I'd start a thread for those random questions we all need answers to...

I need to acquire some replacement toner for my HP colour laser printer. Normally I would buy genuine, however my son keeps printing many pages of stuff so he can colour it in and I don't want to pay top $ for toner just for that. I know I can probably buy a printer for the price of toner but I wanted to see if anybody had a supplier of aftermarket toner they are happy with.

You have Darts.

They are little critters that live in your anus,
The Dart out and bite you on the dusters and then Dart back.
You have a rare case of them I'd say, because they are usually know to be found on teenage boys.

This has been a community announcement in the hope that some may be able to live with this terrible and sometimes embarrassing  condition.
Alternatively, you could get someone else to scratch for you. This would divert attention away from you playing with yourself.

D4D try Hot Toner. Used to use that to order ink for my previous works printer. Fairly well priced and quick delivery.

I have a Fuji Xerox monochrome laser printer.

Officeworks want $59 for one cartridge.http://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/fuji-xerox-201609-toner-cartridge-black-fxct201609?searchTerm=fuji%20xerox%20m205b%20toner

eBay seller in Hong Kong sells knockoffs of the same cartridge for $39.99 for 5 cartridges. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/261278737338?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649

So far I am very happy with the knockoff toner cartridge. I am still using the first one, so I don't have a good indication of how long each cartridge will last. The original cartridge that came with the printer lasted about 6 months, so I am hoping for a couple of years of use before I start looking for new cartridges again.

I found with ink jet printers that the frequency (or infrequency in my case) of use was not enough to stop the ink nozzles from clogging up with dried ink. Since I have swapped over to the laser printer, no more issues with clogged nozzles. Once the nozzles clog, your only option is to bin the printer. Some printers have nozzles that can be cleaned, most are only good as a boat anchor after they are blocked.

When it is time to get a new printer,  after research and before purchasing,  always go to your local ink supplier and see what costs are involved in refills.

Buy the best quality printer and the best quality ink. You will pay for it but then you can start printing your own money and it will pay for itself in no time...

What's the best way to get a 12V garden light cable under a concrete walking path? I tried yesterday with yellow tongue and some poly pipe/water jet, but can only get half way. Any other ideas?

Push a garden hose under the concrete with the water running, it will make a hole under the path with much less hassle, just a but cold for it ATM.

Thanks, I was thinking about the pressure washer using the jet but didn't want to move/dislodge the soil/clay underneath the path.

I might try the big hammer and garden stake method.
