Pick me! :'( >:(

Bit of a ticklish throat last weekend, which became scratchier during Monday, then really sore Monday night  :'(

Did a test on Tuesday but -ive!

Throat eased a bit on Wednesday but nose started running, headache & just generally fluey, although with a bit of fever, with mid - high 37°s.

Not much better this morning so got Leafz to pick up a new pack of test kits while she was at the shops earlier & now +ive :'( >:(

Well that well & truly stuffs the double birthday party we had arranged for this Saturday night (Son 1 last week & me next week), complete with roast lamb for Oz Day!  :'(

wife had a mild dose of it mid last year. (thankfully *well before* our Oombulgurri trip)

It was going around town here... so most of the population got a dose in one form or another.

I managed to dodge it by basically staying away from everyone. Just me n' the dogs.

the clinic in town checks your vaccinations whenever you go in so we're all up to date. Flu shots, Covid... everything.

Think you lot need to visit Vic and get some fresh VHC air COVID free...... Still. Could also be the amount of rum consumed

Still haven't had it, and I've immuno-compromised, yet the rest of the family have had it 11 times between them and I've never taken any precautions to not get it....

My 100yo mother was among a few cases in her aged care home a week or so ago.
There were quick to get her on medication and apart from a husky voice she didn’t seem much affected by it.
Fine after a week.

Good to hear at her age it would be concerning..

My first experience with Covid points to around 48 hours incubation in which time you could most likely pass it on. Post lockdown we drove from Adelaide to the Dandenongs in Melbourne for a niece's outdoor wedding on a Saturday afternoon whereas later that evening reception and celebrations were indoors as well. Most of the wedding party and guests were to come down with Covid as a result. The bride groom and extended families met again for Sunday BBQ lunch before we retired to accommodation to set out for Adelaide on the Monday. Approaching Adelaide late afternoon I was feeling a ticklish sore throat and would wake up Tuesday morning feeling like crap with all the common symptoms and test positive.

Anyone else pin Covid infection down to around 48 hours like that?

Here's an interesting one for all f you to keep in the back of your mind.

As I was getting worse on Wednesday, I tried to talk to my GP about the anti-viral medicines that are recommended in some cases, but he'd gone home for the day!

He rang me Thursday morning & we spoke (OK he spoke, I croaked ::)) about it. He decided the A_Vs wouldn't do any good as have to start them within 5 days of first symptoms, which would have been a faint tickle last weekend.

However, he did say get some Telfast 180 & use them, as they have been shown to help relieve symptoms ! Suppose it does make sense, as helping against hay fever etc must help clear your breathing & so on.

So try them! For a $few certainly can't make things any worse!

I was told same thing... i asked him how many know they need the treatment after 5 days - not many he said...

Yeah 48 h seems to be norm. When we got it in 2023 my wife had gone to the pharmacy on a Thursday (the only outside contact for several days, we were busy getting set up for a trip) started to feel sick on Saturday, me on the Monday. Same for the son's family a few weeks ago, first days in childcare for the youngest at 10 months, covid 2 days later then progressed through the family. Interestingly the 3 year olds only symptoms were a runny nose.

Still got no voice, following on from Covid 2 weeks ago, & generally feel like s%^&, so went to the GP earlier.

He reckons that it's triggered off a bronchial infection, thanks very much :'( >:(

Antibiotics for the next week so hopefully that will jump on it ???
