Amity point shop fire
« on: October 28, 2013, 10:45:42 AM »
Fire destroyed the Amity Point general store on North Stradbroke Island overnight.

It is understood that the fire broke out around 1am and took local fire fighters two hours to bring it under control.

The shop also includes the Post Office and fuel outlet. Fire crews managed to save the small house behind the shop and keep the fire away from the fuel supplies.

Crews were still at scene this morning dampening down.

No one was injured . Police and fire authorities are investigating.
