« on: June 24, 2014, 07:33:40 PM »
Received this bargin by email, good price especially over the upcoming school holiday period if you're still looking for somewhere to go.  Not sure how much extra to include a CT?

MICAT MADNESS!!!! WOW - $100 VEHICLE FERRY TO MORETON!

Book a return 4x4 to travel between Thursday 26th June and Thursday 31st July 2014 for only $100* (YES, THAT’S ONLY $100 RETURN!)!

Cheers

Last time I crossed, the Inskip to Fraser was $100.00 return still....has it gone up?

Extra $50.00 for the CT

Easter cost me $110 & I'm pretty sure Sept '13 was ditto. Hopefully you get a "local" discount.

I'm taking advantage of the $100 to Moreton.  Had a trip planned anyway - nice to get the discount.
Beware that it isn't valid for Friday trips, it seems.  Or at least I couldn't book it and my wife confirmed on the phone today that the discount did not apply.
I booked Thursday instead.

Interesting question ...
I just received an email saying the ferry prices are going up (a little, not too much) from 1 September.
You can prebook for any date and get the current, cheaper, prices provided you book by 31 Aug.

What a ripoff those prices are.
Who cares how many kids are in the back seat? Just a blatant excuse to charge more from families, which in turn keeps us away - counter productive I would have thought!

Just did the sums for us .. A trip to Fraser for our family of three for ten nights camping in school holidays , multi permit [ Teewah / Fraser ] barge fees including trailer + allowing the $14 Tewantin ferry and $20 extra cost in fuel to get to Rainbow beach.. = $448.70 ..To get us onto the Island and start the holiday ..
To Moreton Island camping fee's, barge fee's, permit etc, 2hrs less travel driving  and $20 less in fuel cost = $620.60 to get us onto the Island ..
Think I still prefer Fraser's extra space over Moreton  ....

It's usually quite close when I do the sums since I'm starting from 10k south of Brisbane city and the fuel cost to Rainbow Beach cancels out any difference in ferry costs.  Fraser is certainly a bit cheaper if towing a trailer.

sounds like i live about same area as you do by the sounds of it, and the fuel cost to get to Rainbow and back again certainly goes a long way to making up the differance in ferry prices.
both completely different islands IMHO, it's much more relaxing / a slower pace on Moreton then it is on Fraser

Forget paying for the Noosa / Teewah fees if going up the beach and not stopping.

Order and pay online and just drive up to Rainbow if you don't stop somewhere  and park up on the beach you wont get checked out.

Cheers Nomad.
