Title: BIRD.... Aussie Post and my Barra Mounts.
Post by: Jeepers Creepers on August 17, 2020, 02:46:38 PM
Astrid rang me this morning, to say, the postie was at home with a package.

Yes Bird, our postie rings us, as we have a 70 metre long driveway.

Astrid rang me, and said, are you home..... NO, i'm in Gatton.
Tell her to leave the package on the back table.

Got home, no package, just a note in the letterbox to say, go the P.O. after 1:30.

I message Astrid, to tell her to go to the P.O. on the way home.
An hour later, I get a message the postie is here.

Walk out and sure enough, there she is with the parcel.
I started telling her about Bird's dilemma with Aussie post.

I didn't even say a name.... she just went.... not that prick Bird?

Paid for a computer Tuesday afternoon to be sent from Brisbane to the GC, the seller used TNT express. It's still not here, I could have walked there and back, only in business hours, and still got it quicker. :(

C'mon, be fair, they have to justify their prices, but yeah, their service is shyte. They certainly have never heard the old saying  " when the going gets tough, the tough get going"

Gave them a call this afternoon, after a while waiting on hold, spoke to someone, he said "I have to apologise, apparently they couldn't fit it in the truck so they left it on the dock" (this was for its trip from Bris to the GC.) Then the icing on the cake "do you know what it looks like"  ::)

Nothing special, just a Dell all in one, you can pick up the business-grade ones second hand for a pretty reasonable price, being business-grade they are pretty well made/specced. My current one lasted me 5 yrs before dieing so can't complain for $500ish

The impression I got was it was already full, but now using it for this post, so all is well that ends well.

They suit me well, especially the price, my last one stll ha two years of the Dell care/warranty thing with it too, not that I needed it in that period.

Just guessing, staffing at the Melbourne facility has had to be cut due to Covid restrictions (people per sqm rule, and 2 of the workers tested positive last week which would have caused drama's internally with zoning and restricted movement of people between work tasks) so processing capacity is reduced and volumes have gone through the roof due to more people shopping on-line. Excess product has most likely had to be trucked to Sydney to be processed to try and clear the backlog.

This was the one that I got, https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Dell-Optiplex-24-7440-AIO-i5-6600-3-30Ghz-8Gb-Ram-256Gb-SSD-24-Full-HD-Win-10/192998932601?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 (https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Dell-Optiplex-24-7440-AIO-i5-6600-3-30Ghz-8Gb-Ram-256Gb-SSD-24-Full-HD-Win-10/192998932601?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649)

Like most refurb/used products, you are rolling the dice a little, but you can buy additional warranty if you want to, not sure what it actually covers though.

Yeah maybe but still a complete waste of energy time and resources in doing that. I bet its just a cock up Ive had nothing but issues with australia post over the last few years. My brother is in logistics / freight forwarding and he said that austpost and startrek are both basket cases when it comes to operations which is a suprise given how much of the market they run.

Same here.... I've posted stuff/parts/Shit all over the place. (Bris to Perth) never an issue.

Lots of stuff sent by post.... always prompt delivery.

The worse I ever had, was 7 days from the Sunny Coast to Tin Can Bay.

I've rarely had an issue with Aust Post.
Regularly order dashcams out of a company in Keilor area of Melbourne. Possibly 50 plus over last couple of years. Order before 3pm and receive at 9am next morning. We are about an 1 1/2hr east of Melbourne.
Order an item from Perth on 27/07, recieved within 7 calendar days.

But.......ordered some LED torches from what I think is a Melbourne based company on 28/07.
Tracking information provides the following information -
8/08 shipping information was recieved by Aust Post.
9/08 shipping information was received by Aust Post. (Again ???)
15/08 Item processed at Somerton Vic. Estimated delivery 18/08. (Finally  :D)
16/08 Item processed at Sydney NSW.  Estimated delivery 19/08.
17/08 Item processed at Sydney NSW. Estimated delivery 24/08.
18/08 Item processed at Chullora NSW. Estimated delivery 25/08.

Dare I mention that one of the reasons I purchased from this online supplier was there very favourable feedback on Bookface.
But when I couldn't get them to reply to my questioning emails about where items were I posted the emails on their Facebok page. Those facebook posts seem to keep dissappearing, or I'm just to facebook illiterate to find them.

I think the "tracking information received" is when the sender printers their own labels and logs the item online. When it physically makes it in to the mail box is a different story
