Here you go Jeepers - found a friend for Migaloo if he get's lonely ;D

Took the Territory down this morning to get the auto serviced & John had this up on the hoist.

It's a 1964 Thunderbird, completely original in every way, without a spot anywhere on it (even the bumpers are pristine!) & with ... wait for it ... 62000 miles on the clock! :o

John also said it's an absolute dream to drive - convertible, power steering, power windows, air-con - you name it ;D

Apparently it's spent it's whole life covered by a blanket, living in a shed. The previous owner didn't even drive it to shows - he towed it everywhere.

You may even know it ???

Some of those T-Birds are pretty nice huh.
There are still mint cars being found every week.
That red one looks cracker. :cup:
You can see the guy who works on it takes special care too.
Placement of a throwaway car under the T-Bird should it fall off the hoist.

The American cars, really seemed to strike a cord in 64.
So many of the makers, just nailed it.
Dunno why 1964 was the golden year, it just was.

About a month ago, I had a guy ask me why the hell I would drive such an old car when for the same money, I could have a new car.
I just replied..... ya wouldn't understand.

These are the standard fixtures and options on our Fleetwood.
429 (7lt) V8 (340hp) First year for the new 429 and turbo 400.
Auto. (smoothest shifting auto I've ever owned)
Power steering.
Duel circuit power brakes (drums)
Climate control air conditioning. (All A/C cars were fitted with 3:25 diff gears. Standard was 3:00)
Cruise control.
6 way power seat.
7 position adjustable steering column
4 power windows.
4 power quarter windows
Power boot release
Power door locks
Auto headlights at dawn and dusk. (Twilight sentinel) It also has a time delay, allowing you to see where you're going.
Self dimming headlights from high beam to low beam. (guide-matic)
Cornering lamps. (so you can see around the corner at night)
Reverse lights
Leather and cloth interior.
Front and rear seat belts. (lap belts only)
Chrome door edge guards.
Maybe the biggest thing for 64, was the last year of the fins.

We only missed out on the limited slip diff option, the rear window demister and the chrome number plate surrounds
Would've been great to score the LSD, but being a Southern California car, the demister was never going to get a look in.

And that's, why I drive an old Cadillac..... well, it is Fleetwood Sixty Special, so it really was, as good as it got from GM in 1964.

Buy a nice old classic car, you'll never look back.
Oh, there is a down side..... with ours, fuel consumption is around 11 to 13 mpg.
Push it a bit, and single digits are a doodle.
No real need to push them hard though.

Our car see's the Woolies car park from time to time.
I have a shady spot miles from the riff raff, so ya have to do a bit of extra walking from time to time.
The arse hangs out of most parking bays, so you have to pick and choose where you park it.
Ours wouldn't  fit through most drive thru's (if any)..... but I can't reach the cashier anyway being LHD
If ya on ya own, passing a wobbly box or the like is just a wait until you can see around a bend or wait for an overtaking lane.

If you want to see a really wild thing from 1911

Google, "the fiery beast of Turin"

This thing, runs a 28.4 litre... (yes, 28.4) 4 cylinder engine.
It has a 90 (ninety) plate clutch and at 1,000 rpm, will do 128 MPH

Apart from that, the fact it runs no exhaust and throws massive flames out the side..... just makes it cool.

Make sure you check it out on the highway video.

Love that monster. I saw the original video of the assembly and first start up. But I hadn't seen any of the more recent driving footage from Goodwood until now.
Driving that would put a grin on your face for weeks.....

Be a hoot, sitting at the lights, flames spitting all over the Hyundai x130 next to ya.
The smell of melting plastic lingers behind as you bang fart and pop away in the beast of Turin.

My understanding, is crazy arse Frank Manchese is running in "street trim" this week end.

In testing this week, the XW went 6:98 @ 209 mph.
He backed that up with a 6:96 @ 211 mph.

Then this on Friday night.  ;D
