Batten Down the Hatches - Australia wide
« on: August 01, 2014, 06:10:35 PM »
I enjoy reading what is bashing Victoria apart but feel as I live in the ACT cannot make a legitimate contribution.

Given that in the east this last two days (Tasmania, SA, Vic and NSW have taken a pounding from extreme weather - snow everywhere etc. I think we need a thread that all can contribute to.

We have had winds up to 90kph yesterday and strong winds and snow flurries today and snow down to about 600m. Will get some pics tomorrow as the hills around Canberra are likely to be covered.

Mods just need to change the other title and merge ACT/Snowy Mountains to be part of SE Aus

Great idea Terry, we had decent snow flurries in Amaroo this afternoon ! Sitting abou two and a half degrees now! The gortex jacket was welcomed walking the dog! I must admitt I do like this type of weather.

 :o :o :o

They breed 'em hardy in the ACT..... ;D

On our way to the Gulf last year we stopped at Belyando Crossing. Got talking with a fellow traveler (Qld-er) about our plans. He thought it would be good for us to spend some time at the Gulf, as it might toughen us Victorians up a bit.

I wonder how he'd go down here at the moment....... ;D ;D

We generally get pretty agreeable weather in Adelaide. Once it goes further East and gets churned up by the Mount Lofty Ranges in SA then the lower great Dividing Range in Victoria it almost always gets more extreme than the way it left Adelaide.
That is probably why I think Adelaide has one of the best climates in Australia.

We have very distinct seasons. As each season rolls over and the first day of the new season arrives, sometimes you could swear someone has simultaneously adjusted the thermostat on the earths temperature. Particularly in Spring, all of a sudden the days temperature average jumps from a chilly daytime average of about 15° to a comfortable 20° spring day. Love it.

And sometimes we get humid days here in Adelaide. Wait for it,sometimes it gets up to 90% when it rains.

And hot, don't talk to me about hot. Did I mention how mild it can be sometimes, and then other times just right.

There ya go. I shouldn't have to contribute to this thread until next season now.

Got a message from my boss yesterday. Him and his family flew to Launceston. It was too windy to open the cargo doors so the unloaded the luggage back in Melbourne!

Not surprised Terry, minus six in Canberra this morning, it's going to be cold mornings all week.
