Yeah, trying.  It wasn't what I was expecting. I am thinking along the lines of COD or MOH, where you have a story to follow, but it's not quite like that, and I was a bit lost, not the bird type  :-*, last night. But starting to get it.  ;D

Holy hell! At least downloads from Xbox marketplace are included in my non-metered lists...

But hearing that 100 XBOX 360 games are now available on the Xbox ONE might mean a purchase is on the cards in the near future...

Holy crap..  And yeah these days I've found that the DVD is just your license for the game so to speak.  No info on the disk apart from some basic stuff

I think it all comes back to stopping piracy by not selling you the stuff you buy...may as well buy the games online and save coin that way

JB HiFi Online have just delivered on behalf of Santa for my two boys. I'll sneak it out tomorrow and commence the setup whilst they are at school.

Do I need to start each of the games as well to save us from the Christmas Day Download blues?

It won't really matter as we are heading to Jervis Bay for a week camping but I was told that you should "sign up" as downloading free games is only possible for games released from the day your subscribe - the earlier you subscribe, the more free games? - don't know how much truth is in it?

BTW - JB have a package for a 1TB FIFA 16 that starts at $449. - I note they have other packages for those on the hunt for a "reasonable" price.

Free Games with gold is only what's available at the time. I don't think you can retrospectively go back and choose. There's only one or two games available a month. Is its not a list that you pick and choose. You'll only get what's available that month. Next month will be a different game. Eg Gears of War 3 two mths ago, some rally game last month and dungeon keeper(?) this month + some random game I've never heard off.

Xbox 360 backwards compatibility requires you to have the 360 version of the disk. You put in the 360 disc into the XboxOne, it recognises the disc and downloads the Xbox one version. They're aiming to release 100 games a month. Second hand Xbox 460 discs are about to get expensive!!

Xbox marketplace allows you to buy whatever game is listed at anytime as long as you pay

Yep. And maybe a few days out just check for new updates.  These things do updates all the time now, it's not like an Atari.  ;D

Oldmate - you've saved Christmas with this thread.

Last day today that I had a chance to hookup the Xbox whilst I was home and the kids at school. I had to duck out and buy a network switch for the Xbox and decided to plug in the tv and everything else that is internet enabled in the AV setup.

I only got as far as the initial download which has taken two hours. First game I put in said a 2.7gb download !

I'll have to fit those in sometime later. Just packed it all back up prior to the kids walking through the door in five minutes.

Thanks for everyone's feedback.

This thread has talked me out of "upgrading" to an Xbox one.
All I play is the single player campaigns on my 360 so I've never hooked it up to the Internet.
Sounds like a real pain in the butt having to download updates before you can even play the damn thing. Even more so given that our internet isn't real fast here.
Think I'll stick to my Xbox360 even though I'm a massive Halo fan and would love to play the new one.

Yeah when we got ours, it turned into a nightmare, as for internet we just had a laptop running of a mobile internet thing. Had to take the xbox over to my mates place to do the first day start up lol.

We soon realised that we would need a fixed braoband with good speed and unlimited data hahaha ;D ;D

I do spend a bit of time playing this now though

Once you run the updates, your set... its a day of pain and months of enjoyment... occasionally you get a 300meg update, which is actually a complete change to the game usually, like new maps, or weapons etc... really keeps the interest up.

I'm still playin the 360 too... but now that the 360 games are compatible with the 1, heaven...

Playing online is a whole new world I didn't think I'd enjoy so much.. but I joined a 'clan', and during CLAN WARS we came first 2 years in a row in our class  :cup: :cup: :cup: But the dudes I was playin' with were phenomenal, and really carried me...

Halo Guardians is the whole reason I want to upgrade... Is that sad? Acutally I don't care what anyone else thinks...

Oh and the fact if you have a Windows 10 PC you can stream games from your XBOX to the windows 10 PC... Finally I might be able to claim my TV back from the kids...

Got COD Blackops 3 today...

3 gig update to begin with, and about 30 odd mins to install (I lost track while doing other Shit).... But I did pre-order mine and got all the extra goodies and maps and shiznit...

Cammo is playin Zombies, that doesn't interest me, I like the multiplayer gig online.
