Newcastle herald will be at Lavis lane entry to Stockton Beach this Saturday 05/10/13 @ 1pm. They are doing an article on the ban of camping on Stockton Beach and approval of the new sand mine contract.... They are looking for 4wd enthusiasts to participate in the support to keep Stockton open for public use and camping.
Cheers

Al and/or Jan

Yes, the NPWS are installing additional gates at Lavis Lane and Yes, the Lavis Lane entrance will be closed in Autumn 2014. No, the NPWS are not closing the beach to 4wd's, the Worimi people make too much coin from the permits to let the NPWS do that!
What is happening is they are tarring the road in as well as tarring and extending the car park before the sand starts. The plan is to create more space for 4wd's to deflate and inflate tyres as well as spots for the people with quads on trailers to park. Lavis Lane entrance will be closed for approximately 4 weeks (weather permitting) for the works to be completed.
For real information on Stockton Beach access ask the traditional land owners: http://www.worimiconservationlands.com/services.php?top=services&category=about&sid=60

Why does it fill me with dread every time I see 4WD inAction purporting to represent me?_________________
