Caulfield Camping Show
« on: March 09, 2011, 05:26:32 AM »
Yes its that time of the year again . The Caravan & Camping Show at Caulfield race course .
Over the last few days its like watching bees to their hives , All sorts of rigs pulling U name it to set up the show . All the show specials ready to be taken home then stashed in the shed till its time to chuck them in the CT or out . Soooooo who going , all cashed up & ready to spend up big time . Personally I'm going Bush bit to busy for my liking

I think I will join you Speewa, I am happy with the old girl at the moment and the bank has run out for me. Its funny watching all the shiny new toys go to the racecourse, I am sure they would not miss a few.

Hi Guys,

Check out to MODCON's, apparently they will be there with their forward fold hard floor.

Interested in your thoughts.

We went today and it was wall to wall grey nomads. Prices were not that flash. Had a look at the latest Goldstream caravan with bunks but I don't think I'll be dropping $60K on one.

Back from the camping show and now I'm more confused as to which camper we will purchase...we have a couple of years to decide though :D
There were a lot of grey nomads but I didn't think it was as busy as on the weekend when we went last time.

Hi Hem,

The ModCon's were excellent, we didn't go there to look at them origionally but will probably buy one eventually.
Loved the Imperial and Elysium but when we are in Brisbane at Christmas time we are going to the factory to have a look at the Quattro with the rear door and kitchen...looks very interesting.  The guys there were very helpful amd let us crawl all over their campers, even opening and closing one to show us how easy it is.

Hi Pat,

Thanks, their workshop is smallish but well organised, they certainly seem to know their stuff.

if you go to the show and cannot find a carpark go to the tabaret carpark it is reserved for the taberet, instead of paying for a carpark go in have a beer, get some cash out, or have a cuppa . we did this last year after searching for a carpark, noticed a empty carparking area right out the front of the venue, asked the security dude whats the go with the big empty carpark, and got told its been reserved for taberet patrons. we said thats were we are going,he said park away and we did  right out the front in a secure carpark. cheers Graham

Had a look around the show today and gotta say the Modcon forward folds looked awesome. You really need to see them to appreciate the thought and work that have gone into them. There were a few stand outs in different price brackets, either way it was good to see some companies thinking outside the square. A couple of others were the Conqueror 490, the Mountain trails, and a few little  new ideas in the Customlines were really good. I did notice there is alot more people doing the cross over type thing also. I left there with a ten dollar camp oven bag and a few more things on my wish list.

Went yesterday, saw the Modcon campers. Like the Idea of the fold forwards top. It was a bit crowded at the time I was there to have too close a look. If I had a bigger car to tow with, it would certainly be on the 'to inspect more closely' list.

Got away with a cheap day, only bought 1 book, but got lots more ideas for mods, and accessories. Well worth the eight hours at the show.
