I pitched this as an idea and was told in no uncertain terms that granny was staying inside the house. Also if I liked the idea so much we could build a PA flat

We happily live in our granny flat whilst renting out the palace. It over come the problem that planning approvals at the time says that you can’t rent the granny flat but it didn’t say anything about renting the primary dwelling.

It over come the problem that planning approvals at the time says that you can’t rent the granny flat as it was a place for a family member to reside. The same approval didn’t say anything about renting the primary dwelling to a non family member.

This just popped up in my local news feed. Tragic outcome for two young men.

Anyone got access to the full article or have any other detail?

Appears that the actual accident was a month ago ???

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12766051/Benambra-crash-Two-men-killed-car-rolls-hill-passerby-discovers-wreckage-hours-later.html

Ironically my parents came across the BC rd a few days before that crash. When catching up with them over that weekend Dad was saying what a great drive it was, whilst Mum was saying what a horrible rd and she never wanted to see it again. She actually said that if you ran off the rd you might not be found for days...........Then the news reported the crash. No holding Mum back now on the proof of what a shocking rd it is.

I'm still in the process of trying to obtain a small compensation fee from a class action from a previous car.

Even though i supplied all the relevant information including the bank details, somehow they say the bank details have gone missing or I didn't supply the correct details {I've had these same banking details for 38years} so I highly doubt I would have submitted the wrong banking details.

A terrible tragedy, but I was bemused at the sheer laziness of the Daily Mail's use of stock photos - this one had no similarities to the story at all  ... AI generated perhaps?

I think it was said back then that they were putting the same airbags back in, but seeing that these were new, that would give them another 10 years of life, by which time most of those cars would be off the road, then rinse & repeat for any still being driven ???

Yeah we have a 2005 Mazda6 that had that done. From memory the paperwork said replacement was the same model Takata airbag.
Son is driving it now. So not sure how long it will last :)

Interesting.

New law puts popular tradie utes, American trucks under threat

New engine emission rules have been quietly introduced and could spell the end for Australia’s most popular utes, SUVs and 4WDs as we know them.

Australia is set to overhaul its automotive landscape, potentially bidding farewell to the era of top-selling cars such as the Toyota HiLux ute, beloved SUVs, and colossal American pick-up trucks.

The catalyst for this transformation comes from new laws announced by the Federal Government, which mandate stringent emission standards for petrol and diesel-powered vehicles.

These regulations, aligned with ‘Euro 6d’ standards, are scheduled to be enforced starting in 2025, accompanied by upgrades to the quality of locally sold petrol.

The overarching goal is to bring Australia in line with emission standards already embraced by Europe.

Technically a rubber stamp, we don’t make cars in Australia, our market is too small for the big guys to even worry about. Yes we get the residual equipment left over that doesn’t meet the euro 6 emission standards. However all the big manufacturers already have vehicles that do meet them and we will get these, that’s why the 300 landcruiser doesn’t come with a V8.
No big surprises with this legislation.
