Hello from Perth - new'sh trailer
« on: June 02, 2016, 03:25:02 PM »
Hi all,
Have wife & 3 boys (12,10 & 4). Have been doing some tent based camping with friends who all have CT's - and being very jealous.
Recently purchased a second hand Cavalier semi off-road CT.
Was about 8 years old and only ever used in caravan parks - so had been modified with 240 inlet and garden type tap to hook up by hose direct to CP water.
Since buying I've only had to refit tap to water tank, repack & grease bearings and modify the annexe pole set up.
I've purchased a new stove, LED's and a battery system - nothing flash but better than a gas pole light.
Off with friends this weekend to Marrinup for a shake down trip and then have a longer trip to Coral Bay in July and a western wheatbelt loop in September.
Safe travels.
Apologies if this duplicates - thought I'd posted this the other day but hasn't shown up.

Update on the shake-down trip.
Manual pump tap wouldn't work as it had been sitting in the drawers for years and the washers had perished - annexe pole set up was a bit iffy with 1 of the top poles using c clips to secure it however that just led to the pole sliding down the uprights! (Temp fix by wrapping some insulation tape around the upright but now changed to pole with holes for the spigot and a new spreader pole for the ceiling).
Canvas was waterproof (yay) and got a solid natural rain session to re-season the seams etc.
Towed well and apart from over-looked kitchen utensils was a good trial for the Coral Bay & Wheatbelt trips in a month or so.

cetacean,
Lived in the Goldfields for a few years so keen to take the kids up to places like Niagra Dam and some ghost towns.
Can remember going camping when I was a kid and finding old soda & beer bottles and the amazement of divining for gold with 2 pieces of fencing wire - it worked!
Not sure how it all works nowadays with mining leases etc but like most things if you do the right thing (and don't be a knob) should be ok.
Haven't been through the wheatbelt but that holds appeal as you can do a "loop" whereas the goldfields has a lot more back-tracking.
Regards
