From Wazbot

Now what are the chances that you and i will have to pay stamp duty on our houses, even if we have owned them forever

Quote
Victorians now have to stump up $45,770 when they buy a house at Melbourne’s median price of $845,000, with the state government reaping $6 billion a year.

But the Herald Sun can reveal the government is exploring a politically difficult plan to dump stamp duty in favour of a cheaper annual tax paid by homeowners, calculated on the value and size of their land.

A long-term transition to the new system would likely be necessary so homeowners are not taxed twice on properties they have recently purchased, and that could require Commonwealth help to cover a temporary fall in state revenue.

‘Cheaper annual tax’ ? Cheaper for the government no doubt!!
We've waited 45 years to do this. Now our life will be complete!!

No, don't worry, it'll be alright ...

The GST is going to replace all other duties, taxes & so on, saving us all $000's every year! ::) :'(

how and why do these people get so much for doing **** all on a fake reality show?

Seven's Pete Evans exits from $800,000 My Kitchen Rules role

800,000... am I the only one that thinks that amount is obscene ??
$800,000 ? is that a misprint? surely $8 is more than enough for that tripe...

Why is it each state government is creating confusion on the relaxing of rules - why not same for all? Votes?

As you saw on weekend the shops in Vic were flat out people everywhere, yet nothing has changed here yet..  If each state changes different lockdown rules at different times, the less intelligent will suffer

Trouble is the less intelligent are most likely the carriers who will take it home to some poor old bugger. If they're healthy and have a good imune system, they still have a good chance of transferring to someone who hasn't.

I was wondering about that. All it seems to do is slow you down in the check out so the virus has more time to spread.
I was there a couple of weeks ago for my 2 week supply run so I had a heap of stuff to get. Before I could pack my bags the checkout chick was loading up next customers stuff on top of mine

might be because if you are bringing your own bags, they don't have to touch them?

those bags would be a fairly interesting breeding ground for any biological organism, let alone a virus...

the less the checkout operators have to touch items not originating the store, the better for them...

I supply - or they supply.. So if they supply the bags should I refuse to touch the bags too?
I've also touched all the items they are scanning too... twice. Once off the shelf into trolley - once onto the thing for them to scan in.

as Champ says, it just slows the whole lot down, I mean having 18 checkouts, and only 2 open helps that too...
